Clarice's obituary
We mourn the loss of Clarice "Tabby" Body who passed away on November 7, 2025. Born on March 27, 1950, Clarice was also known as Tabby Body but always preferred going by Clarice. She was a cherished woman, beloved by her family and those who knew her well. She was educated through Public Schools of Washington, DC and had an 25 year career as Director of Telecommunications at American University.
Clarice leaves behind her daughter Sharee Renee Body and her daughter Reesha Brandee Body-Wiley, granddaughter Tashma Body, and grandsons Tavon Body and Jalon Wiley, God-daughter Charmaine Cheek-Dessaso, her brother, Reginald Bumphus and a host of relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Larry Body, her loving mother Lillie Mae Royster-Bumphus and father Matthew Bumphus, brothers Matthew Bumphus Jr., James Bumphus and her partner, Andrew Evans.
An attendee at Bethlehem Church of God, Clarice found solace and community within the church. She had a keen ear for music, especially the soulful tunes of Aretha Franklin. In her leisure time, she enjoyed watching her favorite movie, "Deloris Claiborne", and cheering for the New York Yankees. However, her favorite recreational activity remained spending time in church.
With a personality that can best be described as entertaining and impeccably dressed, Clarice made memorable impressions wherever she went. Above all, she deeply cared about her family and used her humorous nature to continuously remind them that "Jesus Loves You".
Clarice, with her infectious laughter and love for her family will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her memory will continue to live on in the lives of her loved ones and all those she influenced during her time with us.
