Clara's obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Clara Scott, a beloved mother, sister, and grandmother, on November 24, 2023. Born on May 10, 1940, Clara's light extinguished far too soon, but her extraordinary life touched countless hearts and is reflected in the faces of her surviving kin.

Clara leaves behind a rich legacy in love and memories with her daughters Gale Scott and Marlina Scott, her granddaughter Brieanna Scott, her grandchild Ja'Nilah Scott, her sister Larisha Scott, and her brother Johnathan Scott. Clara also held a special place in the heart of her niece, Taliha Hartman. Predeceased by her loving husband, Eugene Scott, and her mother, Delores Scott, Clara’s spirit now reunites with those who went ahead of her.

Clara’s zest for life was evident in her varied interests. She had a fondness for pig feet and collard greens, and found comfort in a warm cup of coffee. An avid mystery book reader, her love for suspense and intrigue paralleled her love for TV series like 'Law & Order'. Music touched her soul deeply, with 'Footsteps in the Dark' by the Isley Brothers being her all-time favorite. She also had an affinity for the comedic drama film 'Don't be a Menace'.

A lover of the arts, she especially appreciated the performances of the Isley Brothers, and watching dancing shows. The Pittsburgh Steelers held a special place in her sports-loving heart. Clara's favorite pastime was playing Skip-Bo, which she often enjoyed in her favorite local spot, the Crackle Barrel. Her cherished vacation memories were of beautiful times spent in Puerto Rico and Panta Cana.

Clara's idea of the perfect recreational activity was as simple as sitting on the beach with her family. She enjoyed walking on the beach, keeping her fit and in tune with nature. Throughout her life, Clara's most passionate cause remained her family. She was described by those who knew her best as sweet, funny, and uplifting.

Nothing was as important to Clara as family. Her greatest accomplishments were earning a master's degree and maintaining a strong, united family. Her most valuable lesson to her loved ones was to value unity, emphasizing the importance of "keeping family together and doing everything day by day".

In her passing, Clara leaves a legacy of love, unity, and resilience. She was the yellow ray of sunshine in her family's lives- a sweet, uplifting force that will be sorely missed. Clara's incredible impact remains, and her light continues to glow in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
