Clara Cushing of Coldwater passed away September 29, 2018 at the age of 87. Clara was born on February 3, 1931 in Detroit, MI, the only daughter of Tolby and Winnie Owens. She was raised in Detroit, MI along with her four brothers.

In her youth, she was an exceptional basketball and track athlete. She received a scholarship offer to attend Michigan State University for women’s basketball.

Clara retired from Branch Intermediate School District with over 30 years of faithful service. During her tenure at Branch Intermediate she enjoyed her time with the special needs students and was awarded several awards for her excellence in driving. She enjoyed camping with the Good Sam Club and was an avid bowler.

In her last few years she was inseparable and devoted to her beloved dog Max.

She is survived by her brother Gary (Denise) Owens of Detroit, MI. Her children: Nancy (Charles) Mault of St. Petersburg, FL, Earl Robinson of Troy, MI, Mary (Joel) Quick of Indianapolis, IN, John (Robin) Robinson of Fort Wayne, IN, Larry (Jane) Cushing of Lagrange, IN, Valerie Cushing of Gardnerville, NV. Her grandchildren: Charles (Katie) Mault, Michael (Amy) Mault, Christie Mault, Jennifer Patterson, Anthony (Mhariel) McDonald, Annie (Gabe) Hauss, Jill Robinson, Grant (Taylor) Robinson, Garrett (Jasmine) Robinson, Gabrille (Joseph) Winter, Brian Cushing, Dillyn (Leslie) Keith, Marcie (Zack) Langendorfer, and several great grandchildren.

Clara was preceded in death by her husband Larry Cushing of Coldwater, MI, her son David Robinson of Auburn, IN and her brothers Edward Owens, Roy Owens, and Terry Owens of Detroit, MI.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
