Claire's obituary
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Claire Elise Kidd Dorsett, who left us too soon on July 21, 2024, along with her loving husband Matthew Dorsett. Born on February 8, 1993, Claire's radiant spirit illuminated the lives of those around her. She is survived by her loving parents, Bill and Colleen Kidd, her sister, Grace Crofoot (Noah), and her brother Drew Kidd (Kayla).
A celebration of Claire's life will be held on August 3, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the Sunset Hill funeral home in Bellevue, located at 1215 145th Pl SE. We invite all who knew her to attend and remember the joyous woman she was.
Claire had an insatiable curiosity and joy for life that manifested in her many interests. She was an avid reader who cherished the magical world of Harry Potter and the writing of Brandon Sanderson. Her taste in music was eclectic, ranging from Queen to Sammy Rae and the Friends, to Mika, and to musical theater. Her favorite TV show was the time-hopping series Dr. Who, and she had a deep love of Disney films. She found joy in many hobbies such as gardening, crafting, photography, and baking. Claire had a special love for performing, sharing her many gifts with the world through her high school participation in musical theater, and her recent tap recitals.
Claire was lucky to share many of her passions with her husband Matt. They both loved the great outdoors and spent countless hours hiking and exploring. They loved playing sports and games with each other, like pickleball on the 4th of July, or regular trivia competitions with their friends. Together, they had a tireless spirit for adventure, considering the entire world as their favorite vacation spot.
A champion for the environment, Claire actively supported the World Wildlife Fund and the Wilderness Society. Her personality mirrored her favorite colors, blue and turquoise - calm, serene, and endlessly deep. She was loving, joyful, silly, determined, courageous, curious, stubborn, intelligent, and wildly enthusiastic.
Claire taught us to be genuinely kind in all of our personal interactions. She had a way of making the people around her grow and become better. Her legacy is one of absolute kindness and caring. Claire’s bright light in this world was only enhanced by her life with Matt. Her departure leaves a void in our hearts that will be difficult to fill. She will be missed terribly.
