Our Action for Media Education (AME) group will never forget Claire and the many contributions she made to media literacy education both here in our state of WA but also nationally. We've placed a piece on our AME website (
https://action4mediaeducation…) to help keep her memory alive for all who are continuing the work of which Claire was such an important part.

Oneness by Thich Nhat Hahn
The moment I die,
I will try to come back to you
as quickly as possible.
I promise it will not take long.
Isn’t it true
I am already with you
in every moment?
I come back to you
in every moment.
Just look,
feel my presence.
If you want to cry,
please cry.
And know
that I will cry with you.
The tears you shed
will heal us both.
Your tears are mine.
The earth I tread this morning
transcends history.
Spring and Winter are both present in the moment.
The young leaf and the dead leaf are really one.
My feet touch deathlessness,
and my feet are yours.
Walk with me now.
Let us enter the dimension of oneness
and see the cherry tree blossom in Winter.
Why should we talk about death?
I don’t need to die
to be back with you.

Claire was a wonderful, loving, amazing and mighty force of a woman. I worked with Claire at several organizations and never stopped being amazed by her energy, joy, inspiration, talent and fire. Love you, Claire. You are sorely missed.

Claire had many talents and unique gifts as we all well know. Her passion for life could not only be felt by everyone who knew her but also made a deep impression on everyone who had the good fortune to work with her. Claire's talents were evident throughout all the many different kinds of work she chose to do, but her perseverance and strong commitment to media literacy education is especially important to note since her efforts have had such a great impact not only here in Washington but also across the nation. Through her work with Senator Marko Liias and our state legislature, Washington became the first state to pass media literacy legislation in the U.S. Claire also became a leader in the national organization Media Literacy Now, an organization working to impact policy changes across the country. Claire's impact on everyone whose life she touched will not soon be forgotten. She will be greatly missed!

I had the wonderful chance to work with Claire on and off for too short a time. When we crossed paths during the day, she would always stop and speak with me. She loved her work, and seemed to constantly model what a good teacher, a good person, can do. I will miss you Claire!
