Cindy's obituary

Cindy Montgomery Haslob, age 52, went home to be with Jesus at 5:15 pm on October 22, 2018. Cindy was born April 26, 1966 to her loving parents, Jerry and Carol Montgomery. She was a 1984 graduate of Benton Academy. Cindy was attending Holmes Junior College in 1985 when she had a car accident that left her paralyzed from the waist down. After her accident, she went back to Holmes, where she graduated in 1986. Cindy spent the remainder of her life showing the world that being handicapped was not the end of life. She was still the adventurous and fun-loving person she had always been. She enjoyed playing wheelchair basketball and tennis and took trips to go deep sea diving and snow skiing, just to name a few. She was also crowned Miss Wheelchair Mississippi and went on to compete for Miss Wheelchair America in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Cindy also worked for a non-profit organization called LIFE (Living Independence for Everyone), which focused on empowering individuals in Mississippi with disabilities. She was dedicated to using her life experience and life challenges to help others overcome theirs.

On February 14, 2003, Cindy married her husband, Chris Haslob. With this marriage, she also gained four beautiful children (Ryan, Jeremy, Joey, and Elizabeth), who she loved dearly. They made their home in Pearl, Mississippi where they were currently residing. On September 5, 2004, Cindy gave birth to a beautiful daughter, Nicole “Nikki” Grace Haslob. Cindy’s world has revolved around Nikki since the day she was born. You did not have to be around Cindy very long to know that Nikki was her whole heart. Family meant everything to Cindy. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her children and grandchildren and family lunch on Sundays at her parents' home.

Cindy was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was currently employed with Bass Pro Shops of Pearl, MS. Her favorite part of her job was the opportunity to work in Santa’s Wonderland during the Christmas season, which happened to be her favorite time of year.

Cindy touched many people’s lives, including many of her family members. Cindy was a true woman of God. She was the perfect example of strength and love, always putting others needs before her own. Her response when asked if she needed help was always no, but how can i help you. Cindy loved to laugh and have fun. Most of all, she loved to see anyone around her smiling or laughing. She had that special way of making people happy.

She is survived by her husband Chris Haslob of Pearl, MS, her 5 children; Ryan (Rachel) Haslob, Jeremy Haslob (Katie Sandifer), Joey Haslob, Elizabeth Haslob, and Nikki Haslob, all of Pearl, MS., 6 grandchildren; Carter Haslob, Maddox Haslob, Oliver Haslob, Brianna Haslob, Jase Sandifer, and Amelia Sandifer, all of Pearl, MS. She is also survived by her parents; Jerry and Carol Montgomery of Benton, MS, sister; Robin (Ben) Williams of Benton, MS, brother; Brent (Renee) Montgomery of Benton, MS, 2 nieces; Jenson Williams and Leilani Montgomery of Benton, MS, 2 nephews; A.B. Williams and William Montgomery of Benton, MS.

She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents; Thay and Kathleen Montgomery, her maternal grandparents; James and Vera Ketchum, her uncles James Ketchum, Jr. and Frank Ketchum, and her Aunt Angie Nicholas.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 25 at 2:00 pm at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Benton, MS, with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm. Rev. Malcolm Minion of Pearl, MS will officiate.
