It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of Cicero Johnson Jr., a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend. Cicero was born on July 9, 1942, and left this world on June 30, 2023.

Cicero is survived by his loving wife, Versie Johnson, his daughters Avis Johnson-Adkins , Adriene Christian, Antionette Johnson, Patrice Williams, and his step-daughter Lawan R-Bey. He is also survived by his sons Devonta Robey, and step-son Willie Spencer. He leaves behind cherished in-laws, Willie Christian ,Kirkland Adkins and Tee Johnson. His legacy continues in the hearts of his siblings Clarence Johnson, Virgina Kern, Lavell Jamison, Bertha Mae Wilson, and Dorthy Jean Jones. He is predeceased by his step-son Bernard Spencer, brothers Charles and Willie Johnson, his mother, Mary Snow and father Cicero Johnson.

Cicero moved to Chicago, IL, in 1963, where he began a fulfilling career at the Chicago Housing Authority in 1975. He worked diligently for over 35 years, providing for his wife and children, something he considered one of his greatest accomplishments. He married his devoted wife, Versie Johnson, in 1977.

Cicero had diverse tastes and enjoyed simple pleasures. His favorite dishes were possum, deer, raccoon, squirrel, fish, and pot roast, all best enjoyed with his preferred drink, moonshine. He loved watching cowboy TV shows and movies. He was a loyal fan of the Chicago Bears, and his favorite pastimes included fishing and hunting. Cicero found solace in his home, his favorite local spot, and loved vacationing in Mississippi. His favorite color was blue, reflecting his personality, which was boisterous, with a great sense of humor, and he was always easy to talk to and an excellent listener.

Services for Cicero will be held at W W Holt Funeral Home, with viewing on July 14, 2023, at 4:00 PM-7:00pm , and the funeral service on July 15, 2023, at 2:30 PM. A reception will follow at 3:30 PM at 15127 Vine Ave.

Cicero's warm personality and zest for life will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. His legacy, rich with love, laughter, and enduring memories, will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
