Christopher's obituary

Christopher Lynden Whitehead, 67 from Clinton, MO passed away September 12th after battling lung cancer. Chris was born in Independence, MO in 1952 to Ronald Arthur and Betty Lee Whitehead. 

An accomplished drummer, Chris performed in a rock band while attending William Chrisman High School. After graduation in 1970 he attended Missouri University in Columbia. 

Four years later with an electrical engineering degree and a degree in Communications, Radio/Television production, Chris moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career working for the movie industry. While waiting for the right opportunity, Chris worked for a camera store and used his interest and talent in photography to become a wedding and sports photographer.

A year later Chris went to work at Vivitar where he was redesigning Their topline electronic flash for 35mm cameras.  This led to other employment with Motorola and later IBM.

Chris got married and had two daughters, Amanda Lynn Whitehead (Farley) and Katie Lynn Whitehead.

In 1995 Chris moved back to Kansas City, his childhood home and continued to work for IBM.  After a divorce he met and married Sandy Johnson in 2000 and moved to Olathe, Kansas.

It was always his goal to move to the Truman Lake area after retirement.  Chris and Sandy moved to Clinton in 2010. Chris loved to bass fish, bow hunt for deer and play drums and guitar

Chris is survived by wife Sandy of Clinton, daughters Amanda(Minga)Farley of San Antonio,Texas, Katie Whitehead of Spokane,Washington, step daughter Lindsey Johnson of Merriam Kansas and step son Brandon Johnson from Omaha, Nebraska.

Memorial service to be held at Willow Lane Chapel, 589 NW 500 Rd, Clinton on September 21 at 2:00 pm.
