Chris's obituary
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Christopher "Chris" Rule, born August 11, 1964 and departed from this world on March 5, 2024. Known for his protective, accepting, consistently optimistic, and loyal spirit, Chris left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him.
Chris is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryl Rule, His three children Taylor Rule, Zack Rule, and Madi Rule. Chris was a devoted father, taking incredible pride in his children. Not just his human children but his furry ones as well! His family later grew to include son-in-law, Justin Stoddard, and soon to be daughter-in-law, Kristin Keller. Chris was also bestowed with the joy of being a grandfather to Titus Rule and Isic Stoddard. His family was his greatest achievement, and his legacy thrives within them.
Chris's close-knit family includes his father, Jack Rule, his sister Colleen Rule and her boyfriend, Sean Robinson, and his brother Jason Rule as well as Jason's wife, Christina and daughter Gabby. He also leaves behind his brother-in-law Tim Holze, sister-in-law Doreen Holze, niece Naomi Rule and her boyfriend, Brandon Briggs, as well as his niece Melissa Doyle and her husband and children. Predeceased by his mother Alycia Rule, mother-in-law Sylvia Iko, father-in-law Gerald Iko, and sister-in-law Michelle Iko, we trust they are reunited in peace.
A graduate of West Seattle High School class of '82, Chris was a regular attendee at Alliance Bible Church. His hobbies included bowling and woodworking, yet nothing compared to the joy he found in being a 'papa'. His favorite ways to exercise his patience was through the love and mischief of his three children. He also found peace and rejuvenation in his favorite vacation spot, Las Vegas.
Chris had an incredible taste for life. While his body may not have always allowed for his taste for physical adventure, his spirit was always on board. His favorite tunes ranged from the rock 'n' roll of Kiss, Guns N Roses, and AC/DC to the timeless tracks of Elvis, Prince, and Stevie Wonder. A loyal fan of the Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Kraken, Chris cheered his teams with infectious enthusiasm.
His community-minded spirit led him to care deeply for causes such as special education supports and animal shelters. He lived by the mantra, "The only person you need to try and be better than was who you were yesterday." His legacy will be one of compassion and generosity, love and grace.
A Celebration of Life for Chris will be held on May 4, 2024, at 2:00 PM, at 19320 SE 240th St. In lieu of flowers, funds are being raised for "A donation in Chris's Memory" at www.everloved.com/life-of/chr….
In closing, a heartfelt message from his children, "Not a day goes by that we don't think of you, if we had to choose someone to be our dad, we'd choose you every time." Chris's life was full of love, fun, and adventure, leaving us with precious memories that we will forever treasure. His presence will be deeply missed, but his inspiring spirit will continue to live in us.
