Chris Quaid will always be remembered for what he did to help others,  He worked in a technical world that provided the end users [ U.S. Military around the word ] with help they needed to be successful.  He did that with little fanfare - Always thinking of how to help those that needed it.

Quaid family

I am so sorry for your loss. During this difficult I hope that you find comfort in John 5:28,29 where God promises that the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out. May he give you strength and comfort to endure.

I met Chris in Space 300. I’ll never forget his charisma, confidence and character. He had a tremendous impact on every life he touched. I’m so sorry for his family and friends for their great loss. He was such a good man. ❤️

Lt Col Quaid was my supervisor at the NRO and I throughly enjoyed working for him. I can assure you he is surely missed by all who knew him. I too was a missile launch officer and I just discovered that I was subjected to cancerous causeing PCBs and asbestos on 24/7 alert. So, I too am suffering from cancer and am in desperate need of cell therapy to save my life. I also have a GoFundMe: Cancer Cell Therapy for Cheryl. My condolesances and I'm happy to speak to any family member about my findings of the PCBs and asbestos if you need documentation which may answer the question of why Chris? There is no cancer in my family and I've pin pointed it to missile alerts and burn pit exposure. Blessings, Cheryl Agbunag
I met Chris in Herndon ... Jeff Harris introduced us. We would discuss support to the Warfighter often and career paths while attending GEOINT
His patriotism and dedication to the mission is what I remember most about him.

“Just Remembering”

I’d like to take a while
And walk with you today
To see the sunlight of your smile
And here the things you’d say
And though I can’t be with you
I’ll do the next best thing
And spend a little while with You
Just remembering

I remember meeting "Quaid" for the first time through our mutual friend Dan Ward. Dan and Quaid's articles fascinated me ("you mean you don't need permission to write that stuff?"). So I eagerly jumped in when offered the chance to join the team. The WIRED magazine reference in the picture captures, for me, the fun of working alongside Quaid. His fun loving “Pirate” attitude rubbed off in such a way that I think of him every time I see the Jolly Roger. One time he pitched Dan and I the idea of starting our own import line of Men’s Adventure Clothing presumably based on some suppliers he had come across in his travels. Awesome! I find myself constantly repeating to colleagues and subordinates alike, “networking IS working”

Dear Michelle,
When Paul suggested that we come to the Memorial for Chris as soon as he read the missive announcing the event, I knew that this would be something special. (He never initiates such outings.) On the way down I asked him to describe you and he gave a series of observations (all flattering) that drew a picture of a very confident and competent person. It was very interesting to me how many of the things that Paul said about you were things that the people who spoke at the service said about Chris. I can see how you felt and acted like soul mates.

I came away from the Memorial Service feeling like I had met someone special…Christopher Quaid and yourself. Thank you for providing the opportunity to celebrate his life. While I know you will miss him terribly, I am very happy for you that you had a decade or more together. Sophie is a lucky girl to have such centered and caring parents who engage fully in life. Our thoughts and prayers are with you on this new stage of your journey.

Blessings,
Carol Parowski
Quaid & I wrote a lot of articles for Defense AT&L magazine together. One of my favorite memories of our collaboration was when he called up a modeling agency and did an impromptu interview with a talent agent - it was a hilarious discussion and we managed to get a partial transcript printed in the magazine. It was vintage Chris - creative, fearless, insightful, and funny. I just posted a photo of one of the pages of that article.

I have to say the celebration of life at Cornerstone Chapel was perhaps the most memorable, honorable and loving tribute I have ever witnessed. I was so honored to work with Michele and to meet Chris and like so many others was so ready to do anything Chris would ever ask because of his incredible mission focus and attitude. As a techie, my fondest memory with Chris was having the honor of being personally invited to come see him at a sensitive facility (a space control "ground station"). That facility is, as any in the IC could tell you, one of the nation's crown jewels. But the bad news is it was not designed with collaboration in mind. It was designed and built to optimize collection of hard targets, not to serve operator/warfighters in the field and fleet. Having Chris walk me through the entire facility and show me the "goz ins and goz outs" of the data flow was great, and it led to a discussion of his ideas to improving collaboration with other ground stations, parts of the IC and of course the real warfighters in harm's way. Chris was also great at public speaking and writing, both of which are important skills for people who want to make lasting change. Both Chris and Michele were blessed with this talent for speaking and writing, and both supported many community events the yearly Geoint Symposium, which was a great place to keep the entire community thinking of those serving national security missions in the face of dynamic threats.

Condolences and love to all.

Chris has been serving our country for years. He was one of the few that fully understood our nations classified satellite programs AND what the people on the front line really needed. He bridged that very complex gap so that the people protecting our great country had what they needed to be effective. He also strongly influenced the future of our intelligence capability in ways few will ever know. A great Man

So many of us, myself included, owe our DoD careers to Chris. Shifts that I sat with him talking about everything from sociology to warfighter support to philanthropy will be things I always remember about him. When he went with me to the Vietnam Memorial in DC and let me take some pictures of him there, I remember how reverent he was, and how so many people approached him to thank him for his service, how many conversations he struck up with people, especially those who looked like they most needed a hand on their shoulder. He was a deep soul with a terrific sense of humor, and a person truly dedicated to looking out for our nation’s soldiers, airman, sailors, and Marines. He set the bar extremely high and I know many of us will think of him every time we reach for it. I think about a family photo shoot I did with Chris and Michelle and the kids and how much love and laughter there was on that day. My prayers for all of you who feel this loss so deeply. I hope it is a comfort to know how loved and respected he was and how many of us carry that torch forward in his memory and honor. So much love. - Lisa P.
