Christopher's obituary
Christopher Alan Pelkey, age 37, finished his race and went home to be with his Savior on November 13th, 2021 after his life was ended in a senseless act of violence. Born December 7th, 1983 in Poughkeepsie, NY he lived a full life in a short span.
After graduating high school and spending a year at Zion Bible College he enlisted with the United States Army in 2005 and served 3 tours with the I-506th 2-12INF scout/sniper section earning the rank of Sergeant in Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2006-2008 and in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan from 2009-2010. He was soldier of the year in his battalion in 2007.
A life long follower of Jesus Christ he grew up attending Faith Assembly of God in Poughkeepsie, NY, attended many churches throughout the US including his brother’s church, Kirkland Life Church in Clinton, NY for 5 years and most recently attended The Grove in Chandler, AZ. He was actively involved in missions and went on short term trips to Mexico and Liberia, along with many local trips.
He was predeceased by his father, Barry Pelkey; his grandparents, John R. Pelkey and Beverly Dougherty; and many brothers-in-arms. He is survived by his mother, Dorothy (Banach) Sabellico of Chandler, AZ; his sister Stacey and Tim Wales of Chandler, AZ; his brother John and Jillian Pelkey of Clinton, NY; grandparents John and Ruth Banach of South Glens Falls, NY; nephews Luke Pelkey, Benjamin Pelkey, Chase Wales and niece Karis Wales along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is also survived by his former spouse Sara MacPherson, many brothers-in-arms, countless friends as well as his beloved cat Sausage. The list of names of people that were effected by his life will never be fully known this side of heaven.
His life was too impactful to limit his services to just one coast. We are holding west coast and east coast services to accommodate all those that may want an opportunity to pay their respects.
Services for Chris will be held on Saturday, November 20th at 2pm at The Grove church in Chandler, Arizona. All are welcome.
