Happy Birthday in Heaven brother! I was just thinking of the time I came back to youth group after my dad passed away. I felt so out of place and broken and I felt that I was drifting away all alone. Growing up I felt that I had this dark cloud around me because my dad was sick and wasn't apart of my life and when he passed  You came up to me and gave me a hug and told me it was going to be okay and that you had my back.  You always looked out for your friends you treated them like family you and John both. Even though so many years had passed you and your brother have had a big impact on my life with so many funny memories along with them.
I just want to say thanks to you guys who wrote here about Chris - it reminded me of awesome times I had with him and I am his nephew and my name is Chase Wales.

My name is Eric Allgood. I want to say to the family of Chris. Your son saved my life. I was at Camp Hope , I was coming from the hospital with a shirt and shorts and your Chris was the first person to give me some of his clothes until I was there because I shot myself through my neck in my 4th attempt to end my life. One day we were sitting all together saying what were thankful for . Chris said he was thankful that i didn't succeed in killing myself and I was in his life. That statnent he said saved my life, Chris was my roommate and I we always did everything together, even when I would never beat him at chess, and he was my partner in playing cornhole. And this is to his entire family, if it weren't for that comment that was pure love with care. I would not be here.

I love Chris so much, and all his family that there is hope, because I lost my hope and gave it back.

Chris was the best Man I ever had the pleasure to meet, but he is not gone , I'm struggling right now and there are little things happening that I know that it's him telling me it's gonna be ok.

I wish I had gotten it to See you and get started on what talked about. But I'm coming to still see it through. I am o hurt but what happened, but the last thing Chris said to on my messenger is he loves me.

Chris, I love all your family, just because they raised such a caring, loving man. That said a sentence to me that I never expected anyone would in my life. To that totally changed my life.
I ain't say good bye because you never left.
I love you, and thank you for being in my life for a short period . But in that time, you did something that I needed to live life. ( I'm in tears right now) but these are happy tears that I know I'll be ok , God is the only one I need . And your right beside.

Ill end with this, Chris lived cats, I didn't hate them but I'm a dog guy. A random cat has shown up at my house that is jumping in my lap while I have moments of struggles. And this cat is the coolest, awesome.. just I know You sent her to me and I'm taking her when I leave TX to do what we were planning and travel, and stay away from people that are not good for people like us... I'm on my way to see your family and tell them that you were the best man I've ever met. I love you Chris.

( I apologize If this is long and proper Grammer( but I could keep going but I gotta do to get ready to head to NY to be there.)

I was so shocked and sad to hear about Chris. He was one of my youth group buddies back in the day and we always had such a blast. I was so proud to see how he served our country and then went on to serve the needy. I am so sorry, John and Stacey, for your loss.

Meet Chris in a class at Camp Hope. He was having a rough day and we got to talking. He and I spent a few minutes at the cross talking and letting him get his feelings out. In truth, I needed someone to talk to as well going through my own struggle, and in his time of need was there for me as well. Chris is a larger than life character that you never forget. He was kind and caring, always showed compassion for his brothers. You are sorely missed brother, rest easy.

We are sorry Chris is gone and grieve with the Pelkeys and his friends. I will remember getting to know Chris a little at Thanksgiving get-togethers and really enjoying his laughter.  He was the only person louder than Uncle David. Our children remembered this about Chris:

What do you get when you cross a pelican with a turkey? ... A Pelkey.

Much love from the Moffatt family.

Chris

I have so many funny stories and memories of how much joy Chris brought into people's lives. From youth leaders to boyscouts, to sleepovers, VBS , baptisms, Church services, softball games, and  to him traveling to Ketcham to play football in the snow. The one story that I will never forget is the time when he returned from a youth convention it seems that every time he came back from these trips he was rejuvenated, his smile became bigger, his joy more infectious, and his wisdom even more powerful. I could never understand it, but I knew it was special so special he busted all his CDs in the Church parking lot just to spell JESUS in huge letters. When I went up to him and asked why he did such a crazy thing and not sell them ( I wanted to buy them) or give them away he looked at me and said " I didn't want to pass the bad emotions and negative feelings that those songs made me feel to anyone else."

I saw Chris in a new way that day I realized that everything that he did and what he was doing had meaning and a purpose behind it long before he ever put on a Army uniform. I watched him excel, speak up when everyone was silent, even if you had a conflict or an issue with him he was the first to apologize, he would make you feel special, but the greatest thing of all he was willing to share and bring us along. No more sitting in the back of the church we all went to the front.  We all supported each other, we looked out for one another, Pastor Ryan trusted us and made us youth leaders. Thank you Chris for bringing us so many wonderful memories for the short time you were here. Thank you for believing in me when I didn't believe in myself, I will miss your smile and your laugh, and your strong hugs. Thank you Chris for being my friend.

Until we meet again.
