Christopher's obituary
Christopher Michael Moran was born in Panorama City, California to parents Terry Moran and Michele McCauley on January 25th, 1992. As an infant, Christopher took a liking to many shows on Nickelodeon, primarily indulging in shows such as Banana’s in Pyjamas and Animaniacs for entertainment. However, not much later something of greater importance took his attention, as Chris along with his parents welcomed their first daughter, Hailey Moran, on September 19th, 1993. Christopher was only 20 months old at the time of his dear sister’s birth, and had difficulty pronouncing her name, so Baby Hee Hee became her newly appointed nickname.
Christopher spent the early years of his education at Calvary Christian School in Pacoima, California. There, in addition to the devout direction given to him from his parents, Christopher was taught respect, discipline, and the importance of a relationship with Christ at a young age. It was at this same time that Christopher and his family welcomed his younger brother, Caleb Moran, into the world on July 13th, 1997. Christopher did not take his role as an older brother to both of his siblings lightly and he always aimed to protect them even from an early age and looked to make them laugh at any chance that was presented to him.
In Christopher’s days as a small child through his preteen years, he found a liking to hobbies that would last for decades. In his early years he tried many different sports such as T-ball, soccer, flag football, and basketball. Yet as he grew older, he took more of an affinity to basketball, while also finding a love for skateboarding, drawing, and video games such as Super Smash Bros.
Christopher spent his middle school and high school years at Hillcrest Christian School in Granada Hills, California. At Hillcrest, Chris shined through his athleticism on the basketball court as well as in the school choir and praise band, where he was given the opportunity to travel to many places including a trip to Europe where he and the school choir sang at the Vatican. In 2010, Christopher graduated from Hillcrest Christian School and decided to attend Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California.
Christopher graduated from Azusa Pacific University in 2014, earning his Bachelor’s degree in Theology. During the duration of his time at APU, Christopher was involved in the university’s “ManChoir” while also taking the time to focus on his studies simultaneously. Although school was of great importance, Chris also devoted his time to numerous mission trips where he was able to travel to places all around the world, including Chile and Camden, New Jersey. While on these trips he was able to spread the gospel to those who had not been made familiar with Christ due to various circumstances and he personally helped many souls reach the Kingdom. These trips also sprouted a curiosity in Chris for traveling and learning about new cultures that would lead to different ventures in the future.
In 2015, soon after his graduation from college, Christopher moved to Tai’an, Sandong, China to teach English and American Culture. Christopher thoroughly enjoyed his time in China as he met many wonderful people during his time there and was very fond of the rich culture and cuisine that he discovered while living in that area. Yet, missing his family dearly, Christopher decided to move back to the United States to be closer with his family and pursue his musical talents.
Christopher’s music was central to his existence. He loved creating and performing his own original compositions. He used his music as a positive outlet for his soul and created endless songs, weaving in and out of various genres while perfecting a sound that was unique to Chris and only Chris. He shared his profound love of his music with his brother, Caleb. They would sit for hours on end, creating and discussing the ins and outs of life while churning out new beats and music effortlessly. Christopher loved the entirety of his family dearly, always setting out to make time for them no matter the day or his own personal plans, but his closest friend and confidant was undoubtedly his baby brother, Caleb.
His legacy will live on through his music and creativity, those he touched all over the world, the work he did for God’s kingdom throughout his life, his family, and his smile that lit up each and every room he entered. Christopher leaves behind his mother, Michele Alanis; father, Terry Moran; sister, Hailey Moran; brother, Caleb Moran; grandmother, Elizabeth Moran; aunt and uncle, Kimberly and Garth Gilliam; uncle, Paul A. Moran; aunt, Francine Nunley; first cousins, Blair Ford, Summer Gilliam, Nehemiah Gilliam; and a plethora of more family and friends that loved him wholeheartedly. Those that knew Christopher will miss him deeply, and his life and the impact that he had on others will be remembered always.
