Chris's obituary

Christopher Andrew Moffat, 57, of Stratford, Connecticut, passed away on October 27, 2022 at The Connecticut Hospice surrounded by his beloved wife, mother, and children.

He is survived by his wife, Doreen Constant Moffat and children Amelia Steele (Christopher), Hannah Moffat (Alex Thomas), and Peter Moffat (Emma Simmons-Wignall), mother Sheila Dombrowik, and father and step-mother Robert and Susan Moffat. He leaves behind siblings David Moffat (Kristin), Scott Moffat (Kerry), Bethany Moffat, and Eric Dombrowik. He will also be missed by his many, many loving aunts and uncles, in-laws, nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Gwendolyn Steele, who he is holding close in his arms, his step-father Dean Dombrowik and beloved mother-in-law Christine Constant.

Chris was born on July 30, 1965 in Hartford, CT. He graduated from Oakmont Regional High School where he went All-State in track and field. He received a Culinary Arts degree from Johnson and Wales University and later graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with a degree in Math Education. Chris married Doreen in 1988 and together they raised 3 children who were his pride and joy.

Chris helped found The Bridge Academy Charter School and spent over 20 years there as a math teacher until he retired in 2021 due to his health. He was passionate about effecting the most positive change in his students and he loved his coworkers. He was a volunteer at St. John's Food Kitchen and was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Stratford where he volunteered time cooking, teaching, and helping with buildings and grounds.

Chris loved spending time with his family and friends. He coached many of his children’s athletics teams or could be seen cheering them on from the sidelines. He treasured their annual vacations to Block Island and Dave Matthews Band concerts. He loved rooting for all the Boston sports teams and attending football, basketball, and baseball games with his family. He loved listening to and poorly singing along to Dave Matthews Band, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Queen. He was always the "go to man" that his family, friends, and neighbors could depend on to help out with home projects. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and they know he is up in heaven with a bourbon and cigar in hand.

Calling hours will be at Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford, CT on November 6th, 2022 from 2:00pm-6:00pm. Funeral will be held at Christ Church, 2000 Main Street, Stratford, CT on November 7th, 2022 at 12:00 noon with a reception in the parish hall to follow.

In lieu of flowers, Chris wished to start The Christopher Moffat Memorial Scholarship, for Bridge Academy seniors pursuing a STEM program in college.
