Christopher Lloyd Rogers was born October 14, 1979 in Welsh, Louisiana to Deborah and Thomas Rogers. He was an exuberant and curious little boy. Since his mother had only sisters, and he was the first boy, he stole his grandfather‘s heart. He lived in Jennings, Louisiana, with his mother, stepfather, Michael, and sisters, Anna, Rachael, and Claire. He elected to move to Houston, Texas, to live with his father, his stepmother Lynn Rogers, and his sister, Che for high school. Christopher entered the Navy after graduation at the age of 17 and qualified to attend nuclear propulsion school after fulfilling the requirements of basic training at Great Lakes, Illinois. Following completion of his training, Christopher was assigned to the USS Providence, a fast attack submarine stationed in Groton, Connecticut. Chris completed his six-year commitment having risen through the enlisted ranks to first class petty officer, machinist mate, E6. He moved to Austin Texas to begin his civilian life. Chris worked for Samsung and Dell and thrived in the intricacies of the tech world. Christopher began college while in the Navy and obtained an associate degree, after his military discharge he continued his education at the University of Texas at Austin, and was within one class of completing his master’s degree in Engineering Management when he was no longer able to attend.

Christopher began to show clear signs of serious mental illness at this time, and was later diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder- essentially a combination of bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. This ultimately led to his death at the age of 42, homeless on the streets of Austin.

He was out of touch and lost for some time, disconnected from his family during Covid, but resumed contact in Spring of 2021. Chris moved to Westlake, LA, worked with a landscaping company, and was able to meet many of his nieces and nephews for the first time. He was truly delighted by them. He enjoyed renewed relationships with his mom, dad, and sisters before he made the decision to go back to Austin.

Christopher is survived by his mother, Deborah Boggs and Stepfather, Michael Boggs, of Westlake, Louisiana, his father, Thomas Rogers of Laporte, Texas, his sisters, Anna Rose (Lynnwood, WA), Rachael Trahan (Moss Bluff, LA), Claire Mccann (Franklin, TN), and Che Gamble (Houston, TX ) as well as his 12 nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his grandparents, June Rogers, Thomas Dommert, and Anne Dommert.
