Chris, damn.. you taught me so much, and you were so stubborn and so talented. Thank you, I hope I told you that enough but probably not. Love you Liz, I’m sending much love to you and the family.

Chris and I first met when my son attended preschool with Michael and Cayce way back in the day. Our musical interests drew us together, and for over 30 years we shared countless gigs, jams, parties, and recording sessions.
He was simply the best musician I knew. I envied his fluidity and creativity as an instrumentalist, and I was amazed how he could nail the perfect track on a recording project on the first take, no matter the instrument. His studio skills were legendary (I called him "O All Knowing One"), and his engineering of a CD some friends and I made under his direction resulted in its sounding way better than we had imagined. His technological knowledge was far beyond anything I could hope to understand, whether in the studio or handling sound at live performances. And all the incredible music from Married With Chitlins is a testament to him as a bandmate and partner with Liz.
It was such a privilege to play, party, and laugh with Chris for all these years. It really sucks that it’ll never happen again, but I’m so grateful that I have it to remember.

OMG, so sad & tragic! I just learned through post from Bruce Marshall on Facebook of the passing of good friend & guitarist/producer/engineer Chris Lannon.
We met DECADES ago when he was the guitarist with the DD Stewart Band which I engineered out at Northern Recording Studios in Maynard.
We really hit it off and I went on to record and co-produce Midnight Traveler with him and the band. I think we did that at what was then Blue Jay Recording. That was a HUGE challenge, as Steve Langstaff really blew the acoustics in the Control Room (never thought to ask advice or feedback from me or anyone else with ears...). We figured out that near-field monitors were our only hope and got some really decent mixes on the record. I also had the thrill of co-mixing them live with their sound man when they opened for The Allman Brothers, might have been Great Woods.
But the biggest thrill and honor was that I became Chris's mentor and designed and equipped his first studio! I'm not sure he ever thought of it this way, but he might have been my top protege as an engineer/producer.
Sadly, I lost touch with Chris and 1st wife Meg long ago when he moved up north and "off the grid".
So sad to hear of his passing, a tragic loss.

I did a lot of sessions with Chris having known him for decades. The most memorable being The Soul Band sessions. A super talent with a huge heart he will be missed by many. One of the hardest things to do in life as you get older and your circle continues to widen is stay in touch with everyone. Please tell the people who you hold close to your heart that you love them. I wish I could have told Chris that one more time.
