Christopher's obituary
Ever the over-achiever, our beloved Chris — affectionately called 'Popi' by many in the family —wrote his own obituary, below. Though a quick glance at the Moon Phases Calendar of 1936 bumps up against some facts presented herein, we suspect that this is either the result of a generations-long game of telephone, Chris' flair for storytelling, or both. Either way, when you're born on Halloween, a full moon can't help but seem blue.
Popi, you found joy in the everyday, made magic from the ordinary, and taught us all to do the same. We love and miss you, and know that you're busy gifting paper cranes to loved ones you're so happy to see again.

Chris always thought he was living a very lucky life. Perhaps his luck came from the fact that he was born under a “blue” moon on October 31, 1936. Raised in Newton, Massachusetts he finished his education at Penn State and Columbia University. Chris served as a Naval Air Intelligence Officer, and then for twelve years he worked in Personnel Administration and Labor Relations. The next stop on his journey included real estate development in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania and New Seabury on Cape Cod. When Chris and his wife Joan moved to La Jolla, California, he worked for and supported the staff and congregation of the La Jolla Presbyterian Church. While working at the church and for many years after his retirement, Chris became the "best-ever-gopher" to the Cookie Lady of La Jolla… Joan's famous dessert bakery. Throughout his life, Chris enjoyed meeting, supporting, and encouraging others. A helping hand, a friendly smile, or a trip to a homeless shelter often filled up his spare time. He is now smiling down on his loving wife Joan, his kids Jennifer, Brad, and Katy, and their children Ruben, Logan, Sam, Fin, Zander, and Cassandra.
