Christopher's obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Christopher "Chris" Lancaster Jarrett Senior on January 5th, 2025. Born on the 17th of March, 1960, Christopher also known by his nickname, Chris. He approached life with a smile that was infectious, his wit and sarcastic humor a testament to his joyous personality. A lover of animals (especially dogs) and a man with an unbounded generosity, he was often described as someone who cared more for others than himself. He was not just clever, but truly smart, handy, and kind. He loved building many projects, anything hands on, give him some time & some tools & he could build it.

Christopher was a proud alumnus of Myers Park High School, graduating in 1978. His connection to his roots in Charlotte, NC always ran deep. For many years he worked at Central Piedmont Community College in the computer lab. In his later years, he moved to his childhood vacation home on Lake Norman left to him by his beloved deceased mother Barbara.  He eventually moved to another home in Mooresville & lastly resided in Union, SC, in the end of 2024, cherishing the beauty and tranquility of the South Carolina landscape. It truly is a shame he did not get to enjoy South Carolina longer as he sought out a beautiful home to work on & finish raising his beloved son Logan in.

Above all, Christopher was a family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Megan Jarrett, whom he married in 2014. Together, they welcomed a child into their lives in 2016. Christopher leaves behind his two sons, Christopher Lancaster Jarrett Jr and Logan Jarrett, and his cherished daughter, Brittany Liles. Although he was not biologically her father, he refused to ever look at her as anything but his. He loved, cherished, and cared for her from the time she was a little over a year old, all the way until he died. He also deeply cared for & loved his step daughter Kayleane Griswold, while also not biologically his, he did not love her any differently than his own children.

Christopher was deeply involved with the Boy Scouts of America, serving as a dedicated Troop Leader for many years. His passion for helping others was reflective of his deep-seated humanitarian spirit. A lover of the great outdoors, Christopher found solace in walks in the woods, swimming in the lake, picking berries, teaching his sons about nature, and leisurely bike rides. He found joy in the simple things - a game of Monopoly (that he ALWAYS had to win)  or FarmVille, spending quality time with his dogs, or immersing himself in the world of Animal Crossing with his son Logan, or whatever game it was that he was into at the time.

Always one to appreciate a good melody, Chris was a fan of legendary rock bands like Led Zeppelin, Metallica, AC/DC, solo artist Ozzy Osbourne, and Guns N Roses. He also loved & enjoyed older country artists.  He had a taste for Old Westerns on TV and occasionally followed Nascar with a particular fondness for driver Richard Petty.

His favorite drink, Diet Dr Pepper, often accompanied him during his recreational activities (and first thing in the morning) , and he thoroughly enjoyed vacations spent in the mountains waterfall searching and at the beach. His most favorite were camping trips taken with the scouts & his son Christopher. Regardless of his many interests and hobbies, it was his sons Logan & Christopher that remained the constant source of pride and joy in his life.

Christopher's absence will be deeply felt. His memory, however, will live on through the lives he touched, the love he gave, and the witty jokes he shared. All who knew him will remember his kindness, his love for his family, his generosity, and his spirit.
