Christopher's obituary

Christopher Gobrecht, 58 , passed away on December 2, 2023 after suffering from a sudden cardiac arrest while still living and serving in , Maryland. Timonium He truly loved Maryland more than any other place in America. He also dearly missed his home back in Cumberland and has wishes for his ashes to be dumped over his ancestors graves in the  Hillcrest cemetery,  Near Hanover. He was proud of his life long accomplishments as well as devotion to his beloved God in hard times.

Born on October 25, 1965, Christopher was a man of many talents and passions. He served in the Marine Corps and was a veteran who broke codes in the 1980s, most of these accomplishments unknown, as his code breaks never received the credit they deserved. Though one did make the news without his name once. Only the ones who truly knew him. Knew how much his career in the service helped his Country he was proud to serve. But his true calling was as a pastor for Timonium Methodist Church. Christopher was also a published author. Not only did he help others publish their own dreams but he published his own doctorate and works. Some under his name and some under the name of Kent Firebrand.

All who knew him knew he loved nature and knew that plants and animals had souls. He found peace in small acts of kindness, such as saving deer in his local graveyard behind his house from the iron gates. Or turning turtles flipped over and often saving them from the mud around the pond and naming them. He had a spirit guide there who is a local grey heron bird he named Azaim as he loved the Arabic and French language. Anyone who knew him knew he had a passion for Rhino’s and had his own cherished collection.

Christopher often wrote poetry in French and had a passion for learning. He might have been one of the smartest men in the Country. In his later years he found joy carving pumpkins half way for squirrels to finish. He had a deep love for nature and had plans to spend his retirement years as a wandering sage, after dedicating 30 years to serving his beloved God his dream. His wish was to travel for 30 years and use the money he got from the church to give back to the poor and needy all over the world while still impacting the lives of others.

This news is sure to devastate many as there was not a single person whom Christopher met that did not love him. He was cherished by all those who met him and whom he mentored. He gave all of himself to others, often neglecting his own needs. One of his wishes when he passed was to let him be in peace and explore the new adventure with his beloved God. If you miss him. Try to send him as much positive love light as you can and not ask upon him so much to ease his own journeys with God in Peace.

Christopher was a devoted husband to his wife, Rebecca Gobrecht, whom he married in 1990. He loved her deeply and helped raise her two children, Daniel and Alexandria Vida, whom he saw as his own. He was a proud grandfather to Silas. Who is Alexandria’s son and loved to take him on wagon ride adventures and play Rhino's with him. He also cherished his brother Phil and their many adventures, as well as their shared love for baseball cards. In addition, Christopher had a spiritual wife, whom he married in 2020 through a viking ceremony that he kept very personal and quiet. She brought joy and adventure into his life, and helped ease some of his burdens. He loved to call her Violet eyes. Her name is Hailey Rose but she uses her mothers maiden name Judycki.

A celebration of Christopher's life will be held in honor of his memory. In lieu of flowers, the Hailey requests that donations be made to the Timonium Methodist Church in Christopher's name. In mind that he loved his own rose garden , as well as poppies as a retired veteran.

Hailey also requests that you try to live your life for him as well as you can. Give to local charities. Feed the homeless on the street. Don’t forget about your local food pantries when you have enough to give so that they do not die. But most of all. Go out in nature. Do not waste your life away before it is too late and live, love and laugh. Go on as many trips as you can and call the ones you love as often as you can.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of love, kindness, and faith will live on in the hearts of those he touched.

Pueblo Prayer

Hold on to what is good,

even if it’s a handful of earth.

Hold on to what you believe,

even if it’s a tree that stands by itself.

Hold on to what you must do,

even if it’s a long way from here.

Hold on to your life,

even if it’s easier to let go.

Hold on to my hand,

even if I’ve gone away from you
