Christopher's obituary

Christopher (Chris) Jon Bennett passed away suddenly from probable heart complications, at the age of 60, on June 14th, only three short days after boarding a plane in Rochester, NY to visit his only son, Michael Bennett and his family several hundred miles away in the state in which he was born and where his ashes will ultimately lay, the sunshine state of Colorado, in the small town of Castle Rock.

Chris was a veteran of the Navy who was honorably discharged in 1982 after serving in Japan for four years. He was always a cowboy at heart and indulged in big belt buckles, cowboy hats, and loved a good pair of pointy-toed boots. He was a Coloradoan despite living all over the country throughout the years and he loved fishing, the mountains, and country music. He was an intensely proud father who took every opportunity to sing the praises of his children’s’ accomplishments and show off his four grandchildren. He could watch Little House on the Prairie on a loop for days on end and Elvis was his all-time favorite musician. More than anything, he absolutely adored listening to his son Michael play music and sing, and was immensely proud.

He is preceded in death by his step father, Virgil Bennett and his step-sister Tracy Redick.

Chris is survived in legacy by his son Michael Bennett of Castle Rock, CO and daughter April Trevino of Loveland, CO; mother Jerilyn Bennett of Rochester, NY, his closest friend and fiercest advocate; grandchildren Elizabeth Trevino, Harrison Bennett, Oliver Bennett, and Griffin Bennett; his brother Mark Bennett of Loveland, CO and sister Elizabeth Bennett Kearney of North Bend, WA; his step-brother Curt Bennett of Houston, TX and Shelly Hernandez of Houston, TX. Chris is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Chris was a good man, a loving father, a caring son, and he will be incredibly missed. His sudden passing was as unexpected as it was heartbreaking and our only peace comes from knowing he is no longer experiencing the ailments of this life and that he is finally truly at rest, whole, in the arms of our Father.

There will be a celebration of life party on Saturday, June 29th from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at his brother Mark and sister-in-law Kris’s home at 1811 Horseshoe Dr. in Loveland, CO 80538.

Chris will be cremated per his wishes under the direction of Olinger Andrews Caldwell Gibson Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 407 Jerry Street in Castle Rock, CO 80104 and his ashes will be spread at Mary’s Lake in Estes Park, Colorado.
