Some memories of playing volleyball with Skip. He was one of a kind. Truly an amazing player, but an even better person. Chris wasn’t just a volleyball player… he was an integral part of the volleyball community. He was loved by all who knew him and respected by all who didn’t. We will miss him greatly. My condolences to the entire Alcides family.

Mrs. Alcide,
Sending my sincere condolences to you and your family. Keeping you and your family in prayer. I know it’s been a while but I do remember brief conversations about our great sons in the nurse office at MLK. Thinking about you and your family.

I’ve known Chris for as long as I’ve known his brother Marcel, practically my whole life. From the very beginning, Chris was the kind of person everyone looked up to. He was a quiet hero, the friend who showed up exactly when you needed him, no questions asked, even if years had passed since we’d last spoken. There was a time recently, I felt lost and stuck, Chris was there with steady advice that just cut straight through the noise. I’ll never forget back in high school when I had first signed up for volleyball, how Chris really got me to take the sport seriously. I can still remember him winding up for one of the most insane serves that I had ever seen, one that just seemed to shake the whole gym. He made power look effortless, and watching him gave me something to aspire for. Chris was, in every way, an extraordinary human being, and I feel lucky to have had the chance to have known him while I did. Rest in paradise

Chris was an amazing human being through and through. He was a kind selfless soul who always put others before himself in their time of need, despite whatever he himself was going through. A true friend which are hard to come by. The impact he had on my son alone, from the first day they crossed paths, is more than words can describe and I could never thank him enough for always being their for him as he grew up. He will always be missed and never be forgotten. My heart goes out to his family during this difficult time. He was taken from this earth way too soon.

Dear Anne Marie and Family,
I am heartbroken to hear about C.J.'s passing. Although I didn't know him, I remember how proud you were when he joined the service. I was thinking about how brave he was to do that. From our conversations, it was clear he was a wonderful son. I pray those memories bring peace and comfort in the days ahead.
