Christine's obituary

Christine Downey Ramsey, born on December 16, 1956, passed away on August 13, 2023 at the age of 66. A beacon of compassion and playfulness, Christine left an indelible mark on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Surviving Christine is her devoted son, David (Andy) Ramsey; her loving sisters, Jacqueline Fifer, Jan Holloran, and Nora Johnson; and her caring brother-in-law, Danny Johnson. Christine imparted valuable life lessons and shared joyous moments with her nephews, Reginald David Vest, Daniel Alfred, and Donald Payne, and her nieces, Whitney Williams and Tracy Johnson. Along with Great-nephew Seth Johnson. She is predeceased by her parents, Norvell and Iowa Downey.

Christine received her high school diploma from E. C. Glass High School in Lynchburg, VA in 1975. She married Rodger R Ramsey at age 19 in 1976, later divorced in 1983. She had one son David Andrew Lee Ramsey born in 1986. She worked at the Central Virginia Training Center as a Nurse until a work related injury to her wrist in 1993. She enjoyed "going to town" regularly to meet her mother Iowa at Wendy's to talk about life and drink her free senior coffee. In her later years, she could not get out much, but spent her final years happy along side her son. Christine was an attendee at the Trinity United Methodist Church with her family, where she nurtured her faith and fellowship when she was young.

Christine savored simple pleasures in life, such as her favorite egg drop soup. She enjoyed refreshing sips of peach tea. An avid reader, Christine loved urban fantasy and fanfiction. Her favorite television series' were Dark Shadows and Andy Griffith. She cherished movies like Labyrinth. Music apart, Christine found solace and inspiration in songs by Bruce Springsteen.

A burial service to honor and celebrate Christine's life will take place on August 21, 2023, at 1:00 PM at the Spring Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted to offset funeral and final expenses at https://everloved.com/life-of….

Christine was a woman who lived her life with compassion, joy, and love, inspiring others to be kinder and braver. She will be dearly missed, and her legacy will continue to influence and enrich the lives of those she leaves behind.
