Background

Tina is a great advocate for reading. She, herself, borrowed 629 books from the Barbara Bush Library on the Libby app alone since 2017! A gift to The Barbara Bush Library Friends "in memory of Tina Tsen" will help the The Barbara Bush Library Friends support the library by raising funds to purchase extra books, buy special equipment and supplies, fund special children’s programs, and hire additional staff during busy times. They are a 501(c)(3) organization, so donations made to the Friends are tax-deductible. They operate a used book store within the library that is open daily, and they raise funds in this and other ways to improve library programs and services. For more information or to join the Barbara Bush Library Friends, please email bblf@bblf.org or visit https://bblf.org/support-the-library.html.

Friends of Mercer Botanic Gardens/The Mercer Society - Tina enjoyed the Mercer Botanic Gardens and often wandered about the gardens with her children and grandchildren. There is much to learn about nature, plants, beauty, and change in the gardens. A gift to Mercer "in memory of Tina Tsen" will help the Mercer Botanic Gardens continue to provide a refuge for people and nature to rejuvenate.

The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston - Tina loved museums, especially art museums. She was a member of MFAH, and she and her family visited it often. A gift to the Museum Annual Fund "in memory of Tina Tsen" would help provide art education to thousands of students. Through an encyclopedic permanent collection, landmark exhibitions, and an array of educational and interpretive programs, the world class MFAH institution allows visitors to explore the visual world across cultures and time periods.

University of Wisconsin Madison Foundation, Citizen Science/Journey North Endowment Fund - Tina, for years, would raise Monarch butterflies at home, starting with planting lots and lots of milkweed. So many of Owen's and Julia's birthdays included receiving a chrysalis from Gran or releasing a butterfly. She agreed the monarch migration is the most impressive migration; learn more about it in the short documentary 'Flight of the Butterflies'. Helping to preserve this migration phenomenon would be important to Tina. In addition, the University of Wisconson Madison is where her son, Charles, received his Master's and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering.
