Chris and I worked together briefly, over a decade ago, but we kept in touch here and there after. She was always someone I could count on to be both candid and also to listen thoroughly to all perspectives. Even when we disagreed, we got along. She was such a vibrant person. We lost touch over time, but I thought of her often and now wish I had reached out sooner (of course). I am so sorry to learn of her passing. Sending heartfelt wishes and condolences to her family and those who were part of her chosen family.
Chris was such a beautiful person. Though it has been some time since I've been in touch with her directly, I have thought about her often and followed her on social media over the years. I always smile thinking of her and all she had to share. Gene, I am so deeply sorry for your and your family's loss. I will always cherish the time I had working with and getting to know her and will remember her for all of the joy she brought me and all of those around her. - Julie Weipert (Markow)

Although we never got to meet in person, we became fast friends via Twitter. And from there we got to know each other over the years, and had many similar passions, including motherhood, the Tarheels and social media. She was always the best cheer leader, and you could always count on her for encouragement and a pat on the back. I know the skies are Carolina blue where you are now, my friend. Sending peace, love and light. 💙🧚‍♂️🕊

I worked with Chris in Okinawa. I had the lead Family Readiness Position for III Marine Expeditionary Force. This gave me an opportunity to inspect programs and get to know Tink personally. What a gem. As a peer at work and as a friend, I could not respect her more. When she moved with her family to America she stayed in touch with me to make sure the families and Marines she was taking care of were good to go after she left. I reread the message she left me on FB messenger back in 2013. So caring and loving for others. She also left her phone number for me in case I needed anything. She was there for me, she was there for others. God, what a good person. I will forever miss her. When I heard she had left us I could not breathe. Not only did my oxygen leave me but the energy around me shifted. She had an incredible impact on everyone and everything she touched. Tink, until we meet again, I will never forget you! Thank you for being a FROtastic friend! Denise Fettig-Loftesnes

My 21st birthday. Me, aunt Chris, and Grandma.
Patrons of a small bar in Santa Fe gathered for weekend karaoke could not have expected to witness the all-time great performance of "Elvira" by the ones-and-only Jay Baer, Christin (Tink) Kardos, and Kim Corak. But they did, and it was wonderful. (January 2017)
In my first month of Battalion Command on Okinawa we began the process of hiring a new FRO. After several interviews, we (SgtMaj, XO, myself) interviewed Chris. There were no more interviews. Although others may have had more experience and maybe even better resumes - her loyalty, dedication, true love for Marines, work ethic , sincerity and positive energy made her the only choice. Although years have gone by, Sharon and I talk about Chris regularly - every time our Okinawa years come up. One of the truly great people I have been fortunate enough to know. Gene - I am so sorry for your loss.
