Happy Heavenly Birthday Mr. Zunigha🥳
I have the fondest memories of being in your 9th grade class and the ways in which you’d shock us into new perspective. What a gift it was to learn from you.
After not seeing you for many many years, I remember riding with my husband on his motorcycle through Seattle and via the ferry to get to my in laws house in Allyn. I had an overwhelming sense of your presence and to my surprise you and your family were crossing the street to dine at the Boathouse.
The omnipresence of your soul is undeniable and I pray on this birthday that you are soaring in the nectar and enjoying the view of your beautiful family.
Much love,
Candace

Christian was a wonderful leader, and I thank God for how he helped me be a better Pastor.
He once told me, "Chuck, take the long view." I discovered over the years that he meant he would BE BEHIND me the whole time, helping me, advising me, and when necessary helping me take a breath to pray before every decision. What a wise man, and a wise leader. What a fine husband, father, and friend. I thank God for the years I knew him, and I can't wait to see him in Heaven! My love to the whole family, I miss you all. Fr. Chuck

Like my brother Randy, I met Christian at La Bella Via. That photo Bob Hoke posted tells it all. The stoic exterior cracked easily into a warm smile that quickly evolved into a deep and genuine laugh. Working the dinner shift or playing for the vaunted "Hot with Sprouts", we shared many a good time. I can almost remember the exact moment he first saw Cathi. He fell so hard you could hear the thud a mile away. He bought my old Datsun B210 so he could drive to Kingman every chance he got to spend time with Cathi. My most cherish memory is of the camping trip we went on one Thanksgiving weekend. After 3 days we hiked out and decided to have a real meal at some greasy spoon. We stopped into a diner in West Sedona and when the three of us walked in the place, while packed and noisy, went completely silent and all eyes turned to us. We thought we had walked in some kinda surreal play or movie set. We did manage to escape unscathed. I will miss my friend. So, until the last out of the last inning of the last game of the last Mr. Burfell softball tournament pax my brother.

In summer 1976 I moved to Flagstaff and quickly found a room in a shared house on Main Street in East Flag. Most residents were leaving for the summer but I was going in the other direction. Must have been a couple weeks later I was the only one in the house and Chris showed up at the door. It turned out that we were both interested in studying Anthropology . Under his influence I too went into linguistics. We talked philosophy, watched the Olympics, and seriously bonded all summer and for the next couple years. In the fall I took a position running Flag’s Youth Hostel and Chris hung out a lot at the hostel. The constant stream of travelers created an atmosphere like Another Roadside Attraction. Fun and wild times. I think we both turned into the people we were destined to be in those few years and subsequent years into the 80s although we mostly took different directions. We did cross paths in the early 90s in Seattle and he and Cathy attended my wedding. I feel for Cathy and his girls, he left too soon and left behind deep and strong bonds. I feel the pull once again. Goodbye dear friend.

Christian was my great encourager. He was my valued friend, confidant, supporter, and leader. Thank you Jesus for providing Christian to me as his Pastor and friend. My heart is broken with sorrow today, yet full of thanksgiving for the days we had together - laughing, praying, planning, working, and loving the Canterbury Parishes.
I thank God for the life and love of Christian Zunigha, and his dear wife Cathi. Our family has been touched and enriched because of the faithfulness we saw in Christian and Cathi.
Christian - a life well lived, a man of such integrity and faithfulness. May our Lord fill those of us who remain behind a little longer with the Grace only God can give, and surround his entire family with the peace of Christ during this time of sorrow and loss. We love you all so much,
Fr. Charles J. Reischman and Mrs. Gina Reischman
and your Canterbury Family Parish

For me, Christian will always be that little boy thumping down the wooden stairs to breakfast in his black cowboy boots and pjs. The little boy my parents and I loved so much. Nettie
