Meeting my nephew over the phone a short while before he passed was very special to me. He was sincere, artistic, curious and good spirited. I’m sad we never got a face to face. I hope one day to meet the woman he loved and their beautiful kiddos.

Life is filled with very hard things to deal with. My prayer is that life will be kind to those who were closest to him and loved him.

His light was bright. May that light travel through generations as a beautiful legacy.  ❤️

  • Chris always said funny shit to cheer you up while getting tattooed. we both liked the ghostbusters 2 original movie he would mimic the goofy lines we all laughed a sense of humor is what i always remember about chris.
Chris was a very nice person. We weren't super close by any means, but everytime I came to get a new tattoo, Chris was always nice. He made the shop feel more welcoming and cozy. I'm glad he is not forgotten nor should he be. I miss him.

Danielle,

Stuff Made of Metal being one of the interests which Chris and I shared, I told him that if he’d save up some used needle bars, I would make a chain mail item - probably bowl-shaped - for him.

Chris informed me that he had a (colloquially worded) “quantity” of needle bars accumulated for me.  I have a container from Chris with a nice number already, but more would be ideal.

If you come across a bin or something with those lengths of stainless steel wire, I would enjoy yet making him something he would’ve held in his hands, examined, and probably liked.

Should you care to do so, Gabe could likely get those needle bars to me when I visit Fallen Angel.

If you are familiar with the “children’s “ book The Little Prince, you may recall the concepts of being “tamed” and “wheat fields.”

Being tamed was explained as “establishing ties” to selected special others. “Wheat fields” were explained as those sights, sounds, smells, touches, tastes, and other distinguishing characteristics which serve to remind us of those we no longer physically hold in our hands and arms.

For me, the wheat fields which will forever remind me of Chris are his encyclopedic knowledge base, his smile, his enthusiasm, his work with skin and metal, and his extraordinary kindness…

Life goes on, built upon the strength and tenderness of those in our own history. Chris would have something to say about all this… You know what he would say…

All my best thoughts for you and the boys -

~ Willie

Chris gave me an air conditioner, bringing a new double meaning to every time next summer that I say “COOL!!”

Chris had this empathy and way of relating to people that left them sharing so much with him. I will miss his friendship and lots of laughs.
Wishing you strength and love for the weeks and months to come.
Carly

Chris performed three tattoos on my left thigh as part of his early graduation into Nolan’s academy, a lifelong journey of learning which both acknowledged. Though he was nervous, Chris was quite proud to be participating in this rite of his apprenticeship.

I asked of Chris, and received, a plump busy bee  - what we thought might be a small prehistoric winged worker amongst the dinosaurs. It’s still buzzing, of course. Buzzing like machines… Buzzing like brains full of accumulated knowledge, ideas, dreams…

Chris added a — (I’ll just have a look…) — sakura, a Japanese cherry blossom, next to those inked in previously by Nolan.

Sakura are held in reverence  in Japanese culture due to their impermanence. The flowers blossom, are enjoyed, and soon fall; leaving mere memories…

From the tale of the cherry blossoms I learned — and I relearn at sorrowful times — to enjoy the beauty of moments, of friendships, of the transient wonder of it all . . .   For times are brief, human beings - no matter the size - are frail, photos don’t capture everything, words are inadequate, and…it is all so exquisitely precious when a bright spark crosses a gap, when grins recognize one another, when a deep soul is in our lives . . . if only for a brief, brilliant bloom . . .

Chris grasped the meaning of his moments. We all hear yet his sentences replete with details of his sons, his travels, his soaring bike jumps, his medical education, his welding jobs, his family, his Danielle, his arms-width dreams…  Chris cherished his many precious cherry blossoms!!

That sole sakura on my skin will remain a reminder of a lovely soul with whom I was only just now getting to know.

My sympathy…  Catch the moments!!!

My sincere sympathies to Danielle and the boys, to Chris’ family across the country, and to all the friends, fans and clients (those who would have become fans and friends).

I did not know Chris as long as most or all of you, but believe that I was gifted in the past few…too short…months with understanding him on some deep level as if we had been buddies for years.

Chris was indispensable in keeping me calm and on-task as the life of ACME TATTOO Co. wound down… He was the big, gentle, smiling soul in the big physical presentation.

As I noted time and again, Chris would say to someone something like, “Cool! I’m glad you’re here! It’s good to see you!”

I can honestly say that Chris was a person to whom I say today, “Cool!! I’m very glad that you were here!! It was always great to see you and talk to you!! Godspeed my dear friend, and thank you!!!”

So sorry to lose my nephew. He was loved and will be remembered fondly. His life has touched many people. We pray for his family.
