I met Chris online years ago and we connected immediately. His passion for friendships, music, hockey and cars was evident in everything he did. He mentored me through some tough spots in my life and I was able to give the same in return. I still remember the late night phone call years ago where he was so upset after losing a game and just needed to vent his emotions. He was the one that got me to switch to Spotify years ago. We're both passionate about music. There was very little we had in common with music genre as we tried to find a handful of songs we both liked. :D When he learned more about Formula 1, we had another topic to chat about. It's wonderful to see how many lives he touched here. I will miss him very much. Wish I could talk to him now. Condolences to all of family and friends of Chris. He will never be forgotten. BIG HUGS!
I met Chris through social media earlier this year and we quickly bonded over our love of music. In the brief time we knew each other, we shared some of our favorite bands. Driveways was one of his favorites and it's now one of mine, and I will always appreciate him for that. I wish I could have known him half as much as others here because he seemed like the nicest and most genuine person. My sincere condolences to his friends and family.

I never knew "hockey" Chris. I knew the little guy who burst through the screen in his window to escape being in time out... when he was 3!   As on of the gang roaming free in Greenbriar,  comprised of a motley crew of boys between 6 and 10 y.o. , Chris was one of the most fearless. I still think of all the summer days (and nights !) those kids had the freedom to explore & play in a way that taught them to be the sturdy adults they became.  And Chris! He was just amazing in the way he kept up with the older kids, but would also come down the street to spend time with the only baby girl.  His connection with Duster was beautiful. Chris always watched out for his little brother, not to say he didn't occasionally lord his status as the big brother!    Seeing all these pictures and memories of a grown man are so wonderful.  He grew into such a talented, happy & beloved person.  But to me, he'll always be that goofy wild child in shorts and boots, running through the water sprinkler, double- fisting ice pops!

Linda, Bob & Dustin, there's no words to say about the sorrow.  I want you to know that Chris will NEVER be forgotten.  He will always be here, in the memories of so many people.

2018
I first met Chris while playing foot hockey at Fishtown Rec in like 2014 or 2015. We were on separate teams and didn't have a ton of interaction but enough for him to know my name. A few weeks passed and I got a random friend request on facebook from him and an ask for me to come out to Hershey to play in his annual gathering. At first i thought it was odd but it wound up being the best decision to go. From there Chris became a mainstay in our friend group as we hit up loads of ice time together and as soon as there was a spot on my Monkeys team I brought him on. The energy and positivity Chris brought with him everywhere was addictive. You just always wanted to have him around. When Covid hit it was a huge bummer but Chris wound up being the glue for the team. Once the rinks opened back up again our captain took a step back from the team; Chris seized the opportunity to fully devote himself to the squad and we were loads better for it. It's been tough running the team without him. We'd always have a chat in the days leading up to games, talk strategy, set lines and catch up then afterwards we'd linger, just him and I, and go over where things went right and wrong and where we could improve the team. I still find myself picking my phone to send him a message about a guy bailing on the game or grabbing his insights on a sub before realizing he won't answer. I miss giving him a hard time about how bad Lando and Danny are doing even though Seb and Lance are pulling up the rear. I miss the talks about life and cars as the nights wound down after games. I'll miss ya bud, the boys miss ya, and we could use a little help if you're not too busy, we've been terrible without you.

This is the story of one of the two songs Chris and I wrote together.

I spent some time going through our old text and emails tonight and came across this funny story. I hope it brings you all a laugh!

Back in June 2010 Chris bought a new iPhone. Wowwww was he ever excited, lol.

He got the phone.

And broke it on the same day.

He then proceeded to email Steve Jobs a long letter about how mad he was that the phone shattered on day one and he demanded a replacement/refund. But he didn't just email Steve Jobs, he also BCC'ed a bunch of his friends, including me. I came across that tonight, followed by Steve's actual REPLY to Chris. I totally forgot about this until tonight and now I can't stop laughing. "Nope"

One memory I'll always cherish were the times Chris and I would play Nintendo. Whenever I'd visit PA, Chris and I of course had to get in playing Mario Brothers and Duck Hunt. Definitely great memories the fun we had, the laughter and smiles.
My condolences to the Herner family and to Chris’s partner.  I met Chris through my brother Justin who was one of his best friends since the 9th grade.  To me he wasn’t just my brother’s friend, he was also family. He was always a part of family functions and was my niece’s godfather. You will be so missed by everyone who knew and loved you. Godspeed and we will see you on the other side.
I was lucky enough to meet  Chris through ice hockey.   He was always one of the nicest and easiest people to talk to.  I admired his dedication to the sport and was always impressed with how quickly he was improving his game.    Getting to know Chris through conversations about our dogs, our similar jobs, hockey, and music was always a pleasure.    Just an all round great guy who will be missed by many.  I’m very sorry to his family and other friends for this loss.
My sincere condolences to the Herner family. I was one of many who had the chance to know Chris on the ice and he was easily one of the nicest guys I’ve had the pleasure to play hockey with.  I’m sorry for your loss.

Many fond memories of times spent on the ice with Chris. He was a great teammate and a great guy in the locker room. He loved the game and was always working to make himself a better player. Tuesday night hockey won't be the same without him. Much love to his friends and family - we are all very sad to lose our buddy.

Chris loved hockey. He was pivotal in making the dream of playing hockey on professional ice a reality at these events. He was a selfless man.
My videographer from our wedding in 2015 send this to me today. 😔💔
