Cheryl's obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cheryl (Brajner) Weinfurtner of Tucson, Arizona, at age 64. An acclaimed fine artist that worked out of her Tucson studio, she will be eternally admired for the paintings she shared with so many. Her works mainly captured the floral beauty of the desert Southwest through a colorful eye, from which she created wonderful images influenced by the Hyperrealism Art Movement. She specialized in transparent watercolor painting but was not limited to that style alone. Known by her www.desertartist.com website for decades, she was enriched by all that visited and enjoyed her works. She was also a professional draftsman from which she made an artistic mark at early in her career.

Cheryl leaves behind her husband and best friend, Paul Weinfurtner. She was preceded in death by her brother Robert Brajner that passed in 2021. Born in Nashville, Tennessee to Gene and Virginia Brajner, she lived in several cities until settling in Russell Kentucky, where she spent most of her school years. After that she lived in Somerset Kentucky, Cincinnati Ohio, Covington Kentucky, Cumberland Maryland, where her artist career first flourished, Bedford Pennsylvania, Short Gap West Virginia, Las Vegas Nevada, and her final home here in Tucson. Always an outdoor adventurer, she found excitement in hiking, climbing, off-road travel, motorcycling, four wheeling and photography. She had a special affection for the Sonoran and Mojave deserts that she demonstrated through her visual art creations. Her achievements, publications and awards related to her fine art career are too numerous to list here. She will be missed enormously by all that she connected with during her lifetime.
