Dear Cheryl,

Rest easy beloved sister in Mom's and Daddy's embrace. Your beautiful Phillip and Baby Kee are waiting for you. I will never forget you Cheryl. Your kind heart. Your sense of humor. How much like daddy you were. I will cherish the memories of you singing songs for me that you learned in school. Summers on the Potomac River. And the house with "two ways to the attic." And our "hippie room" and how creative and imaginative you were.  You truly were ageless. You were a trailblazer and one of a kind. The world will not be the same without you. Thank you for being my best friend. Thank you for being you. I will miss you with my whole heart. Rest in God's love dear sister knowing you are loved and that someday we will meet again.

Love always,

Donna

Dear aunt Cheryl,

I was heartbroken to hear that you passed. I wish that things were different, that this wasn't true. I already miss you. I wish I could hear one more of your jokes, or help mom get your groceries for you one more time. Your memory will never fade and I'll be playing all of the Elvis songs for you. I know that you are in a better place with Mamaw and Pap, without pain and at peace. I love you forever and I know this isn't goodbye, but instead, a "see you later." ♥️

I was so sorry to hear about Cheryl's passing. She was such a delightful person. Cheryl always made me laugh. I have very awesome memories of her.  From a very young age, she helped to influence my love of hippies and of peace and love, hip huggers and eye shadow. Cheryl was like her daddy in always cracking little jokes or saying funny things. I can hear her voice now, softly saying something to make me laugh. Cheryl influenced me more than I ever thought. Our families were so close, we were blessed because you were a part of it. You will be loved and missed

                     Sleep my sister

I wish you sweet sleep, my sister dear.

Although there’s so much that you’ve left bare

I hate that you had to endure such pain

On my mind, your saddened eyes have left a stain.

I want to know what crossed your mind

Unspoken words you’ve left behind

Undone things we’ll never do

No sharing thoughts you never knew.

A peace has fallen upon your head

A taste of sorrow we have been fed

It really is like a hole in our lives

One swiftly dug but carved out by knives.

But I have hope that those sleeping will rise

The Bible says that God will open their eyes.

No suffering, sickness, yes not even pain,

Those who did good, eternal life they’ll gain.

So… sleep on my sister, sleep tight

For now with you the sky is night.

But after night will come daybreak

Therefore I will wait hoping to see you awake.

Sister.   She is your mirror, shining back at you with a world of possibilities, she is your witness, who sees you at your worst and best, and loves you anyway, she is your partner in crime, your midnight companion, someone who knows when you are smiling, even in the dark, she is your teacher, your defense attorney, and even your personal press agent.

My dear sweet sister,  Cheryl, you were all these things to me and more.  I will never forget your sweet smile and cute little laugh.  You were strong yet child-like in so many ways.  You were the first born in the family, our leader, protector, and friend.  Love you always, your sister, Cindy.
