Cheryl's obituary
Our dear, sweet mother, Cheryl Lee Davis, left this Earth on Sunday, November 6th at 62. She was surrounded by loved ones to see her off to Glory and begin her next life in Heaven.
Born in 1960, Cheryl was a Shades Valley High School Class of 1978 graduate and was a member of the SVHS marching band. She enjoyed playing the timpani and was the only drummer that played with three snare drums. She also went on to participate as a member of the University of Alabama-Birmingham Community Band.
At the time of her passing, she was an employee of Home Depot and had been with the company for 19 years – serving the longest at the Pelham location. She loved her Home Depot family so very much.
Our mother was a Navy Reserve Veteran and was previously stationed in San Diego, California. She was very proud of her service and military veteran heritage.
She was a huge Auburn fan and, although her allegiance was to the orange and blue, she was supportive of that other college when they weren’t playing each other. She just loved watching football like her mother.
She was a staunch supporter of indigenous rights and those from marginalized communities. She had a huge soft spot for rescuing animals.
She loved life and everyone in it and did so unconditionally. To know her was to know true kindness. She was a hard worker and loved doing things herself. We are so fortunate to have been her family and friends. We got to see how she accepted others and how one can love another without expecting anything in return. She was a beacon of light. She touched so many lives and made lives more enriching if you were in hers. It’s impossible to list all things she enjoyed doing for others, such as crocheting blankets for friends’ and families’ newborns.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Nettie Whaley Davis; father, Joe K Davis, Jr.; brother, Charles “Chuck” Davis.
She is survived by her sisters Pamela Autrey, Beverly Davis, and Julia Knott; brother-in-law Lynn Knott; children, Nicole Miller, Daniel Vest, and Katy Bush; sons-in-law David Bush and Jamin Miller; grandchildren Alikai Vest, Nolan Bush, and Cameron Bush.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 10th at the First United Methodist Church of Montevallo. It will begin at 2 PM.
There is much to celebrate with this awesomely special woman. She was our best friend. Our champion. Our biggest fan. Now, our fondest memories.
