It is with great sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of Cherrie Blair, 77, on April 10, 2022 in Montreal at the while battling cancer.

She is the daughter of the late Wilhelmina and Uriel Blair. She will be lovingly remembered as a grounding force by her siblings Byron, Claude, Joe, Heather, Mickey, Seymour, and Tony,. She was predeceased by her sisters Millie and Phyllis.

She is survived and very much cherished by her son, Marcos Townsend, and grandson, Marlo.

Our family is deeply grateful to the transplant staff at the MUHC Glen site, the Montreal General Hospital’s oncology department, and the staff at the St Raphael Home. Their skill and compassion were a tremendous comfort to all of us. They also gave her the opportunity to enjoy to the fullest her grandchild’s early years.

This summation of her life would not be complete without mentioning Winston Townsend, John Elder, and Karl Cummings for their immeasurable influences.

May her wit, generosity, and fierceness live on in all of us.

Cherrie’s sole dying wish was to be buried so her spirit could watch over her grandson. She firmly believed this couldn’t be done if she were cremated. She was interred in a modest family gathering at Mount Royal Cemetery, chosen for its accessibility to her grandson and friends who would like to visit.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, I humbly ask for a donation of any size to help with the burial costs. Though the burial was modest and the eventual gravestone will be too. The listed goal would equal half of the burial costs. Please know any contribution would be welcomed, no matter how small.
