Cherie (Gilbert) Courtois, 63, passed away on Tuesday September 24, 2019. Cherie was born in Windsor Locks, CT on July 27, 1956 and was a daughter of the late Lennis and Monique (Bury) Gilbert. Cherie lived in Windsor Locks while growing up and raised her own family in West Springfield, MA where she proudly served as a troop leader throughout her son’s Boy Scout years. She spent a number of years in Fayetteville, NC and Louisiana volunteering to train our troops and service the family members of those deployed until returning to Windsor Locks to care for and live with her mother. Cherie was a wonderful cook and found great joy in being “Gramma” to her only granddaughter, Alice.
Cherie is survived by her children: Matthew Leonard Frank of West Springfield, MA, Michael Gilbert Frank and Lindsay H. Frank of Enfield, CT, and Michelle Lynn Frank of Leverett, MA; three sisters and their families: Nadine Alderucci, Jacqueline Loney and Michele Paulding; one brother: Daniel Gilbert; one granddaughter and was expecting her first grandson; and multiple nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Cherie is predeceased by her brother Gary Gilbert and brother-in-law Michael Loney.
The family is hosting a celebration of Cherie’s life November 9, 2019 at 10:00am at St. Mary’s Church, 42 Spring Street in Windsor Locks, CT.
In lieu of flowers, the family simply asks that you hug those close to you and be sure to tell them you love them.
