Dobie's obituary
Charner Dwayne “Dobie” Wright, 64, of Perry, Florida, died on February 22nd, 2026, following a long battle with injuries sustained in a tragic accident.
Dobie was born in Perry, Florida on January 8, 1962 to William “Bill” and Anne Wright (née Mixon). He is survived by his mother, Anne; his children, Vanessa (Greg) Wray of Perry and James “Jimi” Wright of Gainesville; his grandson, Atlas Wray; his siblings, Wayne (Kathy) Wright of Tallahassee, Danny (Angie) Wright of Perry, Angie (Robert) McCray of Mayo; and many nephews, nieces, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Wright, brother Terry Wright, sister-in-law Connie Wright, and nephew Will Wright.
Dobie graduated from Taylor County High School, class of 1980. He worked as a Toolmaker/Designer Draftsman for Stanadyne Precision Products and as a Machinist for GTO, Inc. in Tallahassee before opening CD Signs which he operated for 4 years. Dobie earned his Associate of Science degree in computer science from St. Petersburg College in 2003. He continued his career as a machinist before transitioning into Quality/Production Management for Balding Precision in Milford, CT. After moving back to Florida, Dobie opened CD Wright, LLC, a residential handyman service, which he operated while also pursuing his dream of building Resonant Guitar Services, where he painstakingly designed, developed, and manufactured custom guitars. Throughout his life, Dobie was in a number of local bands, including TLH in Tallahassee and Green Farm Road in Perry, and enjoyed playing local events and festivals. Dobie was a songwriter, and spent endless hours composing, recording, and mixing his music. He also enjoyed attending concerts, golfing, fishing, camping, art, and most of all, spending time with his children and grandson, family, and friends. He was known for his generous and loving spirit, his sense of humor, and his loyalty as a friend.
Dobie passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones at Big Bend Hospice’s Center for Compassionate Care in Tallahassee. The family would like to express their deep gratitude for the care shown by the dedicated staff at Tallahassee Memorial and Big Bend Hospice.
