Charlsey's obituary
Charlsey M. Ward, 86, of Bryan, Tx, passed away Monday January 2nd, 2023 after a short illness. She was the older of 2 children born to Mayton S. & Lucille (Chavers) Ward. She was born in Groesbeck Texas and lived there until the mid 1950's. She graduated from Groesbeck High School. She was much loved by most everyone she met and in later years affectionately referred to as "Grandma" by most of her family. Mom was a talented seamstress , making many clothes for her family and for many others. She also owned and ran her own Drapery business for many years. She was a faithful member of Central Baptist church for over 60 years and loved her Lord Jesus.
Mom loved her family most of all! From her parents, to her younger brother, to her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. She loved spending time with all, cooking our favorite foods and talking about various activities we all were doing. She babysit for the grands and great grandkids as long as she was able to. She went to our plays, events and programs until she no longer could. She shared her cooking talents with them and several are continuing that tradition. She went on many camping trips with us all and even trekked with some of us to Yellowstone NP, stopping on the way in Nebraska and in California to see family she hadn't seen in about 50 years! We all had a blast that trip! She got to see a bear jam and a grizzly bear as well as lots of buffalo! Mom also hunted with a rifle in her younger days, having learned how to shoot/hunt from her Daddy when he took her with him to run his trap lines. Mom always had a green thumb and could grow almost any plant! She loved Irises, Lilies and roses, all of which she continued to enjoy throughout her life. Some of our best last memories of Mom/Grandma were in the kitchen getting our Thanksgiving and then baking Christmas cookies with her Great grandkids and then getting Christmas feasts ready! Ever year she said she was going to cook less but never did. She wasn't able to enjoy really this Christmas due to being ill but she enjoyed getting ready for it. Although we will miss her dearly, we are glad she is no longer in pain and can stand straight and tall. And that she got reunited with her brother, parents and many other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother James Ward, her son in law Byron, a number of in laws and many Aunts/Uncles, cousins and dear friends. I'm sure it was a grand reunion for her on Monday! There will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date for family , friends. We'd like to thank all her wonderful home health aides over the years that took such good care of her including April, Rena, Anna, Heidi and others!
She is survived by her son Lynn Herrmann, her daughter Jo Leene Rychlik, her grandchildren Larry Rychlik, Melinda Rychlik, and Kristina Lane and husband Eric and her 4 beloved great grandchildren, Willan, Chelsea, Kylee and Melina.
