Charlotte's obituary

It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Charlotte Louise Harris of Virginia Beach, Virginia, on January 15, 2026. Born on March 21, 1945, Charlotte graced us with her warmth, wit, and unwavering love for over 80 wonderful years. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 59 years, Ray, her children (JoAnn & Tim), her grandchildren (Tiffany & Ryne), friends & neighbors.

Charlotte was best known for her sweet spirit, coupled with a kind and loving nature. She had a fantastic wit and sense of humor that could bring a smile to anyone's face, and a strong creative streak that found its outlet in her surroundings and impact on her loved ones. Whenever you met Charlotte, you were sure to leave with a full stomach and a full heart, such was her hospitality.

A proud Navy wife, a loving mother, and a doting grandmother, Charlotte's joy was her family, and her love for them knew no bounds. Her granddaughter, Tiffany, whom she & her husband, Ray helped to raise, held a special place in her heart. Charlotte's legacy is one of enduring kindness, a generosity of spirit that she extended to not just her family, but everyone she met.

Her teachings, to lead with kindness, to trust God, and to always treat others as you'd like to be treated, will remain with us and continue to guide us. In the little things--her love for her grand dogs, her bird feeders & hydrangeas, and her nurturing spirit--we will find constant reminders of Charlotte's love.

In honor of Charlotte's life, a fund is being raised for the Arthritis Foundation. In lieu of flowers, we ask you to consider donating to this organization. Contributions can be made directly at https://everloved.com/life-of…

This cause is deeply meaningful as Charlotte lived with both osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis for most of her life. As the disease progressed, it gradually took away her ability to engage in many of the creative hobbies she loved, but it never took her spirit. When one craft became too painful, she simply found another. Shifting from painting to crochet to quilting, she was always creating, always adapting. Her resilience and determination to keep making things, despite chronic pain and loss, is a powerful reminder of why arthritis research, support, and advocacy matter so much.

While we mourn the loss of a truly irreplaceable woman, we also celebrate the love, laughter, and wisdom she brought into our lives. Charlotte's influence will be felt for  many years to come, a testament to a life well-lived. She will be missed beyond words.
