Charlotte's obituary

Charlotte Faye Carney

July 8, 1936 - October 21, 2023

Charlotte Faye Carney, born on July 8, 1936, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, to Floyd and Nina Mortimer, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 11:15 am after suffering a stroke. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends at Mason Country Hospital in Washington.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Keith Carney, and is survived by her younger brother, Gary Mortimer. She was one of six siblings, including Verrille, Daryl, Don, Margaret, and Gary.

On July 13, 1957, Charlotte married Keith Carney, and together, they embarked on a life filled with love and adventure. Their journey led them to Ashland, Oregon in 1965, a place they had never seen before. Remarkably, Charlotte made the trip while pregnant with their son, Rob.

Throughout her life, Charlotte's most cherished role was that of a mother to her four sons: Steve, Mike, Rob, and Brian. She took great pride in her family and was a source of unwavering support and love.

Charlotte had a special place in her heart for her grandkids: Krystal, Patrick, James, Riley, Sean, McKenzie, Elliot, Garrett, Austin, and Serena. She was also blessed with six great-grandchildren: Alexa, Preston, Gavin, Liam, Blake, and Kayden.

She was a dedicated and loving presence at countless sporting events, rarely missing a game. Charlotte played a vital role in keeping a 30+ year family reunion tradition alive, making sure everyone gathered in Seaside, Oregon, to celebrate their bond.

As her children grew up, Charlotte joined the workforce at Valley of the Rogue bank. In her lighthearted way, she once said she did it "to be a person."

She was known for having matching shoes, purses and accessories to every outfit and never leaving home without her red lipstick on. Charlotte was a classy lady.

Charlotte had a passion for playing cards, especially Bridge. She was always ready for a game and even played several hands of 7 and Kings on the day of her stroke, exemplifying her spirit and love for the game.

A Funeral Mass in remembrance of Charlotte Faye Carney will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church in Redmond, Washington, on November 22, 2023, at 11am.

She will be laid to rest in Eagle Point Cemetery on December 8, 2023.

Charlotte Faye Carney will forever be remembered as a loving wife, a devoted mother, a doting grandmother and great-grandmother, and a loyal friend. Her warm spirit, unwavering love, and boundless kindness have left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who had the privilege to know her. She will be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Charlotte's honor.
