Chad's obituary
Charles Edward “Chad” Wright, 48, of Santee, SC and previously of Lexington and Charleston, peacefully returned home to his Savior on Monday, April 14, 2025. Chad was predeceased by his grandparents, two uncles, his cousin Molly, his stepmother, and several dear friends and mentors.
Chad was born in Richmond, VA on November 18, 1976 to Claudia Rebecca “Beckie” Cumbee (Danny) and James Edward “Jimmy” Wright (Carolyn). He leaves behind his parents, older sister Christina “Christy” Wright Spears (Chris), his niece and nephew, Ava and Owen Myllykangas, whom he adored, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
Chad graduated high school in Dallas, Texas. After high school, Chad joined the United States Navy and was medically discharged later. He later received his Associate’s Degree in Medical Services from Trident Technical College. Chad never met a stranger and always had a kind word to lift up those around him. He truly would give you the shirt off of his back. As the only boy cousin, he was often the center of attention with his jokes and antics. He had a knack for witty analogies. He loved music from Jimmy Hendrix to Pink Floyd and Chicago to Lionel Richie. Chad loved hunting for roadside “treasures.” He could decorate on a dime and he’d proudly show off his latest dumpster dive finds. He loved the Florida State Seminoles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was passionate about one day going to St. Judes to witness the amazing and triumphant stories that the hospital walls could tell him. He was passionate about his plethora of four-legged family members. Most of all, Chad was passionate about his unwavering and unconditional love for his family. He would often refer to his mother as his “first true love” and lovingly referred to his older sister as his “Issy” and his best friend. Chad had many challenges throughout his life, including a ruptured brain aneurysm, but Chad and his family kept their faith. Chad’s family is grateful for the “borrowed time” they were able to spend with him and rejoice in knowing that Chad’s returned home into his Father’s arms.
