Charles's obituary

Charles Wayne Hill, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, went home to be with our Heavenly Father on July 26, 2025, at the age of 81.

Charles was born on August 1, 1943, in Davenport, Iowa, to Harry and Edith Hill. Charles was the fifth born of seven children. He graduated from North Scott High School in Eldridge, Iowa, and went on to complete a ministerial course of study at Mount Vernon Bible College as well as earn his Bachelor’s of Theology from LIFE Bible College. He became an ordained minister in 1967 and spent his life sharing the good news of Jesus Christ.

Charles had a lifelong passion for woodworking and built a successful career in all areas of construction and building. His craftsmanship and skill were matched only by his generosity—there was nothing he couldn’t fix or create when it came to helping his family. Whether building furniture, repairing a home, or crafting something special by hand, Charles took great pride in using his talents to support and care for those he loved.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Augusta, his daughters, Angel René Kamala and Charity Marquez (Eric), his son Charles Wayne Hill II (Shelbie), and his six grandsons, Kai and Seth Kamala, Isaiah, Elijah, and Noah Marquez, and Charles Wayne Hill III. He is also survived by his older brother Larry Hill (Anna), his twin sister Charlotte Ylinen (John), his younger brother Ronald Hill (Cindy), as well as many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, his sisters, Marilyn and Luanna, as well as his brother Melvin, who were all surely there to welcome him into Heaven.

A celebration of Charles’s life will be held at Common Ground Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Saturday, August 2nd at 10:00 AM.

Charles Hill lived a life defined by humility, loyalty, and humor. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a lasting, eternal impact — both in the community he helped build and in the hearts of those who knew him.
