Charles's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Charles "Charlie" Umfress on December 31, 2023. Born on March 31, 1941, Charles was a man of immense strength, bravery, and loyalty, characteristics that defined him both in professional and personal life.
Charles graduated from Shafter High School, located on Mannel Avenue, Shafter, CA, in 1960. An ardent music lover, he found solace in the tunes of Dolly Parton, George Jones, and Merle Haggard. His taste in art was reflected in his preference for Westerns and films like 'Lonesome Dove' which he enjoyed in his leisure time.
Beyond his love for music and films, Charles found pleasure in the simple things of life. He enjoyed riding horses and playing with his dogs, activities that brought him great joy and tranquility. He was also an advocate for fitness and often engaged himself in walking which he considered as his favorite form of exercise.
Charles was the embodiment of honesty and dependability, virtues he cherished and imparted among his loved ones. His teachings and presence will be deeply missed, yet his legacy will continue to live on through his loved ones.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Debra Umfress, and his devoted daughter, Amber Espinoza, who will cherish his memory and preserve his teachings. Even as we mourn the loss of Charles, we celebrate his life and his enduring impact.
