My toast on behalf of my dad tonight: “Today marks one year since my dad passed, and not a day goes by that I don’t feel his presence. He was my hero long before I understood what that word really meant. He was my biggest fan, my strongest supporter, and the smartest person I ever knew—not just in knowledge, but in kindness, judgment, and love.

He believed in me, in everything I put my hand to, and that belief still carries me forward. He supported me without limits and loved me without conditions. Everything I’ve done right in my life, is because he showed me how—by example, not instruction.

So tonight, we don’t just remember my dad- we honor him. We carry him with us in the lessons he taught, the values he lived, and the love he gave so freely. To my dad—thank you for everything. I miss you, and I hope I make you proud.”

I am so very sad and sorry for your loss. You had such great love for him. You were very blessed to have such a wonderful man as your father & others as a member & as their friend. I would’ve given anything to have a father like him. Be blessed with the memories that you have have of him.

Chuck has been my best friend for 58 years. We served together in the Air Force and our wives were best friends. I miss him so much.

We just lost a great man. The memories that Chuck and Nettie provided have and always will last a lifetime. They were a HUGE impact on my life. I will miss you from now until I see you again in heaven.
