Mike's obituary
Mike was born on June 18, 1943 to Andrew and Helen (Billiter) Sekerak in Pikeville, Kentucky. He graduated from high school in 1961. Mike met and married Lillie (Bailey) Sekerak in 1968, and they had 53 years of adventures. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jerry Sekerak and Merrill (Butch) Smith, Jr.
Mike proudly served his country from 1965 to 1972 as a Naval Electrician in Submarine Services on the USS Lafayette and USS Tautog. After serving our country, Mike used his GI Bill and graduated from Rose Hulman Institute of Technology with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and worked many years at Tredegar Corporation. Throughout his life, Mike was an animal lover, especially his beloved dog PeeWee, an avid reader, a practiced photographer, a loyal movie goer, and he loved to garden. Mike was a Master Gardner and volunteered with many organizations in Illinois and Indiana. He always had a beautiful garden with the best produce to share with friends and family.
Mike is survived by his loving wife Lillie, his sister Tana (Donald) Olinger, and many loving nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews that took great joy in spending time with him and learning from him.
