On July 14, 2022, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Charles “Charlie” Powning passed away suddenly at the age of 69 years. Charlie was born January 15, 1953 to George and Mary Powning. A Nevada native, Charlie lived most of his life in Verdi. He leaves behind his wife of 43 years Cheryll; his children Casey (Becca), Courtney, Cody (Lindsey), & Chance (Jasmine); his grandchildren Evan, Paisley, & Charlie. His is also survived by his mother Mary Powning, his brother David (Terrie) Powning, his 3 sisters Georgene Harris, Kitty (Les) Smith, Christine (Paul) Burr, and many nieces, nephews, & cousins. His father George Powning preceded him in death. Charlie was a 1971 graduate of Reno High School & received an associate degree in Architectural Design & Drafting from the University of Nevada. He was the owner of Verdi Construction where he built and remodeled many projects around Northern Nevada. He loved spending time outdoors while camping, fishing, hunting, 4 wheeling in his 1946 Jeep Willys, and just hanging out with his family on the front porch. He especially loved watching his son Cody & grandson Evan race motocross. Charlie’s friendship and love touched many lives. The world will never be the same without him. Our family would like to thank everyone for reaching out to us during this difficult time. Thank you all for the flowers, cards, visits, food, phone calls, & texts. All of your kindness didn’t go unnoticed. You'll never know how much it meant to all of us. A celebration of his life is being planned for the future.
