I am so sorry to learn of Chaz's passing. He was such a talented artist; I would have loved to live closer and see his work more often. I treasure the carving he made of two native Inuit, seal hunting from a double kayak, carved of bone, that I purchased in Seward. I was sad to learn that he had moved on from carving but his spray paintings were incredible. I love an artist who works equally competently in multiple media (though apparently not so competent in cooking??!). From his high perch now he must be experiencing incredible inspirations. Rest in peace, Chaz, and thank you for sharing yourself through your art, where you live on and continue to inspire and enhance lives.
Sincere condolence for the loss of Chaz. World lost a true gentle soul and the kindest person. I met Chaz in high school. We played together on the Homer Mariners Football team. We were a club back then. He didn't play much but his enthusiasm for the sport, his team mates and any way he could help the team be better was something I took from him. Didn't matter to him. He just wanted to be part of a team and if it mean being on the practice squad and getting a few plays here and there, he was all in. We stayed in touch over the years and I'm proud to say I am privileged to have 2 pieces of his art. I got one for my step son and Chaz was kind enough to write an inspirational message to him on the print. He always put others first and he will be missed both in Alaska but in corners of the world you might now think of. Already missing him from Minnesota. Fly free Chaz and HFC forever! I'm proud to have called you a friend.
