Charles's obituary

We mourn the passing of Charles Lyon who was born on August 20, 1945, and passed away on November 8, 2023. Charles was an avid learner, a loving father, and a loyal friend to many. He had a zest for life and lived every day to the fullest.

Charles was a proud graduate of Strong Vincent High School in Erie, PA, class of 1963, furthering his education in Accounting/Finance in San Jose, CA in 1980. Charles was a proud attendee of the Houston Buffalo Soldiers Organization, showcasing his commitment to community support and engagement.

Charles is survived by his children Charlita Lyons and Charles Lyons II, his grandchildren Angel Brown and Gordon Thompson, and great grandchildren Etta, Vanessa, and Kelby Brown. He also leaves behind his stepchildren Cierra, Tierra, and Undre Stewart, Yolanda Bateman, and step grandchildren  Rashad, Elijah, Amari, and Parris Stewart, as well as, Cerra and Emory King. His first ex-wife Anita Lyons-Mossett, second ex-wife Gloria Stewart-Lyons, and daughter-in-law Karen Lyons also survive him. Charles was predeceased by his father, Odis Lyons.

Charles enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, including popcorn and the company of a good book, particularly the Bible. He had an eclectic taste in music and particularly enjoyed "Shot Gun" by Junior Walker. He was also a steadfast fan of the Football TV Show and the movie "Apocalypse Now". He was an enthusiastic member of the Steeler Nation and loved playing tennis.

Charles had a fun and happy personality with a love for life. He enjoyed sailing and found his own unique way to exercise by loving wine. He also had a fondness for Luby's Restaurant and did a significant amount of charity for The Wounded Warrior Project. He was remembered for his playful advice, "Don't step on Superman's toes".

Charles's greatest accomplishments were his family and his achievement as a CPA. His legacy is carried on by his son, Charles II. Charles will be remembered for his love and encouragement he provided throughout his life. He has left an indelible mark on all the lives he has touched.

Charles, your joyful spirit and love for life will always be remembered. We thank you for the love and the wonderful memories we've shared. Rest in peace.
