Dave's obituary

Charles David “Dave” Luse, 68, passed away Wednesday, November 18th, 2020 at Azria Health where he was a full-time resident from various health complications amplified by the COVID-19 virus.

Dave was born August 8th, 1952 in Kansas City Kansas to Howard and Virginia as their second son. He was raised in the Shawnee Mission area and graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1970. Dave went on to attend K-State University for a year prior to beginning his early career as a machinist. Dave married Cathy Gress on February 3rd, 1973 and began a family. In 1982 Dave and Cathy moved to Stilwell where they raised their two beautiful daughters Jennifer and Barbara. Dave was a natural born engineer and problem solver. He went to work for Puritan Bennett for several years and then in 1992 Dave and a business partner founded and operated Integrated Control Systems where he worked until retirement.

Dave was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Though friendship was the greatest gift he provided, should you receive a physical gift from Dave you could count on it being wrapped in the store bag it came from. Dave had an admiration for all things that go BOOM and could be relied on for fun gun range days, great firework displays, and dry ice shenanigans. Dave loved cool cars, metalworking, and woodworking; if he wasn’t doing these things, he could be found watching a show about them. He was known for his love and admiration of good BBQ which he turned into a mastered skill always having plenty of his personal best ready for any event. Dave could routinely be found with family and friends at Applebee’s drinking a Killian’s Irish Red or at Jalapenos Mexican restaurant having a Dos Equis Amber.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and grandson Ian. He is survived by his brother Bob, daughters Jennifer and Barbara, grandchildren Adrian, Annie, Emily, Peyton, and Piper, and his sons (in law) Tom and Lance.
Due to COVID-19 complications and restrictions a visitation service will not be held. An Inurnment with immediate family will be held at 1:00PM Saturday, November 28th, 2020 at Johnson County Funeral Chapel & Memorial Gardens mausoleum where Dave will be re-united with his wife Cathy.

Dave particularly loved having BBQs for Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day or any other fair-weather day. A BBQ and celebration of his life with family and friends will be scheduled at a later date; consistent with Dave’s appreciations – shenanigans will be a-plenty.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to your favorite charity and/or to the family through Everloved to assist with funeral and celebration of life expenses.
