Charles's obituary
Charles Kitchen, 90, of Lincoln, CA, passed away on October 10, 2022 after a short battle with Leukemia.
Charles was born on September 13th, 1932 in Texas. After graduating from high school he joined the Navy and served on the USS Midway. Later while on tour he met Marcia Ellis at a military dance, and they were married soon after her high school graduation in 1954. He is a graduate of UCLA, where he obtained a degree in Criminal Justice. He had long career working in the Department of Corrections, first as a probation office, and later as Assistant Warden and Head Warden for several California prisons.
Charles and Marcy Kitchen raised their two children in Davis, California. He was an active participant in his children's lives, often coaching his son's baseball and football teams. Charles was an avid sports enthusiast, and loved watching the Aggies play at UC Davis, as well as watching his beloved San Francisco 49ers. In 2003 Charlie and Marcy moved to a retirement community in Lincoln, CA where they made many new friends. They lived there happily together until Marcy's death from brain cancer in 2009.
Charles is survived by his daughter, Lisa de la Torre and her husband Michael of Moraga, CA, as well as their 3 children, Matthew, Samantha and Emma. Also by his son, Jeff Kitchen and his wife Tracie of Carmel, Indiana and their two children, Sarah and Lucas. He was a much loved father, grandfather, and dog lover.
