So sad to hear the passing of Charles. I interned for him my senior year at Rider University as a sports reporter covering South Brunswick Football in 2016. He taught me valuable tools on how to write, interview and cover sports as I transitioned from playing sports to pursing a career covering them.
He was a good man - Rest in peace Charles.

I regret that I'm only now learning of his passing. We had met through my then-girlfriend, who was/is friends with Leah. I lost contact with him over the past couple of years but knew him both personally as a dedicated father and professionally as one of a gritty old-school reporter and editor back when we both ended up with Packet Publications in Princeton.
My sharpest memory of him was around the time I learned that several of the reporters, myself included, were getting laid off. He, Mary and I went to a bar and all of us got a bit emotional about it. Just outside, he was basically telling both of us that we were going to get back into the biz... I'm not sure I should quote him directly on this platform but he gave me in particular a fiery assurance. In it, I knew he expected me to rise up from that fall...
I never told him but that weighed on me a year later, after I left NJ, and was scrambling for work. Changed direction since then but the fact that he both guided me on my writing and expected me to push on... it was part of what kept me in journalism when I had seriously tried drifting from it.
Godspeed, Charlie.

Charlie joined us on our vacation to Maine. He loved the ocean and the beautiful scenery. He was always quick with a witty joke or story to tell. His knowledge of Star Trek was impressive. He was a good man and he will be missed. Rest in Peace.
