Charles's obituary

Charles, was born in Cub Run, Kentucky to Dorothy Mae Puckett and Willie Daymon Hornback. He had one brother, Gordon and one sister, Pat. At age 12 Charlie’s first job was a golf caddy in Louisville, KY, where his mother was a welder in the shipyard during World War II. Afterward, he worked on the farm until age 15, then worked in Detroit at Auto Plants until age 17. He joined the Navy at 17 and was an aviation electronics technician which led him to the University of Maryland college where he earned his BS degree in engineering. After graduation Charlie worked for Motorola. California was Charlie’s Promised Land where he spent 59 years, added a Masters Degree from UCLA, worked for Motorola and retired from Beckman instruments.
Charles is survived by his wife, Josie Hornback, daughters Lyn Ashton and Paul, Gay Dickinson and Allen, 4 grandchildren and 3 Great-grandchildren, sister Pat Andrews, and half brother Ray Hornback.
Charles met and married Josephine Valenzuela in 1997. Josie has been Charlie’s constant companion through the past 21 years. His life got very busy once he married Josephine. Both were business owners in the community and very active with family and friends. Charles had many hobbies to keep him busy in retirement. They traveled all around the world. When at home he spent his time fishing , camping in a RV, model airplanes, hiking, backpacking, and spending time with family and friends.
Charlie loved the Lord and he will be missed and remembered for his generosity, kindness and loving spirit to all who met him.
