Charles's obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Joseph Hogarty, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who departed this life peacefully at his home on April 4, 2026, after a courageous battle with a number of ailments. Born on May 26, 1941, in Philadelphia, PA, Charlie, as he was affectionately known, lived a life marked by generosity, loyalty, and a relentless spirit of innovation.

Charlie was the cherished son of Charles and Margaret (nee Bulman) Hogarty. He was predeceased by his loving parents, his sister, Peg Hogarty, and his wife, Marie Claire (Wade) Hogarty, with whom he shared 55 loving years.

Charlie had a distinguished career, beginning his professional journey at the age of 19 with Keystone Automotive—at that time, a small bumper re-chroming company. His unwavering dedication and visionary leadership saw him rise through the ranks to ultimately become CEO. Under his stewardship, Keystone revolutionized the entire aftermarket auto body parts industry by importing affordable, quality replacement parts, forever altering the landscape of auto body repair in the United States. Charlie's tenure as CEO was marked by his successful endeavor to take the company public, an achievement that positively impacted countless lives.

Charlie is survived by his daughter Pamela (Courtenay) Key, his son Charles Joseph Hogarty, his sister Mary Ann Hogarty, and his grandchildren Darin (Jennifer) Hogarty, Chelsea Hogarty, Charles Joseph (Aliyah) Key, and Stuart Key.

In honor of Charlie’s life and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor - Chicago, where his sister is Mother Superior. Donations can be made online at [Little Sisters of the Poor - Chicago](https://form-renderer-app.donorperfect.io/give/little-sisters-of-the-poor---chicago/memorial_donations).

A private family funeral will be held to remember and celebrate Charlie’s life, as he wished. His family extends their deepest gratitude for the love and support they have received during this difficult time.
