Charles's obituary
December 27, 1968 – April 18, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Charles Hill, who died of a heart attack on April 18, 2025, at the age of 56.
Born on December 27, 1968, Charles grew up in Georgia and proudly served in the military. In 1993, he set off on an ambitious journey—hiking from Georgia to Alaska. That adventure eventually brought him to Washington, where he met Susan Moore. The two shared a 32-year relationship built on deep connection, loyalty, and love. Susan was his girlfriend, his partner in life, and truly his family.
Charles was a jack of all trades, always ready to lend a helping hand. Whether it was fixing something broken or offering support to someone in need, he approached every task with quiet generosity and a can-do spirit. His natural curiosity and resourcefulness were matched only by his kindness.
He had a lifelong passion for collecting miniatures, with shelves full of tiny treasures that sparked joy and wonder in those lucky enough to see them. Though he hadn’t camped in a while, he loved the outdoors and often spoke fondly of the peace and simplicity he found in nature.
Charles leaves behind a wide and loving circle of family—siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins—as well as dear friends who became chosen family, and a community that will long remember his steady presence, warm heart, and willingness to show up when it mattered.
At this time, no memorial service is planned. In honor of Charles’s life, take a moment to lend a helping hand, admire something small and meaningful, or enjoy a quiet evening under the open sky—just as he would have.
